Description

A. J. GOODFHCH.
Improvement in Curtain Fixtures! No.122,826. Pdt'entedJ an.16,1872.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT J. GOODRICH, OF WOLCOTTVILLE, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO TURNER, SEYMOUR & J UDDS, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,826, dated January 16, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT J. GooDRIcH, of Wolcottville, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Curtain-Fix tures; and the following is hereby declared to be a full and correct description of the same.
My invention relates to that class of curtainfixtures in which the curtain-roller is kept from revolving and the curtain held in the desired position by a stop, and a cord or tape is employed to draw the curtain up and also to regulate its descent. My improvement consists in a T-head upon the outer end of the axis or spindle of the curtain-roller to take against a stop that is upon the supporting-bracket and hold said Thead and curtain-roller from turniug. In either case the pull on the curtain-cord releases the T-head from the stop and allows the curtain to be rolled up or lowered and when the pull on the cord is released said T-head immediately takes against said stop and holds the curtain in the desired position.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is an end view of the curtain-roller and supporting-bracket with the stop applied to the bracket. Fig. 2 is a plan.
01. represents the curtain-roller supported in the brackets b b, and upon the bracket b there is an eye, 0, for the curtain-cord or tape 0 to pass through. c is the axis of said roller a, and at d the same is formed as a spool to receive the tape or cord e. At f the axis projects beyond the bracket b, and is formed as a T-head to take against a stud or stop, h, and prevent the roller a revolving. This stud or stop h is shown as upon the bracket b, and when so placed the bearing for the spindle c in said bracket b is made as a slot to allow suflicient lateral movement for this end of the curtainroller when the same is moved forward by the pull on the corde to disconnect the T-head from the stop h and allow of the revolution of the roller a. This slot is slightly inclined upward, so that when the pull on the cord is relieved the axis of the roller will roll back to its normal position, and the T-head f take against the stop h and prevent the roller a turning.
I claim as my invention- The spilidle c of the roller (1, provided with the head f, in combination with the stop h, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
Signed by me this 22d day of August, A. D.
