IMPRO'V'ED` STOVE-PIPE BAND .AND SHELF.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same,

To all whomft't may concern v Beit known that I, BEUBEN HOOVER, of Vernon Centre, inthe county of Blue Earth and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improveiuentin Stove-pipe Band; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and tothe letters ot' reference marked thereon.

'lhis invention consists ot a stove-pipe shelf, 4so constructed as to be -Iiriuly secured to t-he pipe wit-h-v out bolts'or screws, and 'yet capable of easy adjustment vertically. t f

The details of constructionv will be fully described hereinafter. t

To enable others skilled in` the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fullyits construction and manner ot' operation.v

A represents a section ot avstove-pipe.

B represents the band, which consists of a single metallic strip or picco ot' wire of suioient pliability to bend easily, which is wound twice about the pipe,

v as shown in the drawing, and has its ends secured in any suitable manner, a hook and eye, however, being preferred.

G C represent braces which are formed of suitable pieces of met-al, bent at right angles, and united at the lower en d by the curving' baro. v

These braces are secured to the pipe by the baud B. They are not, however, held by both circles ot the band, but only by the lower one, as is clearly shown in tbe drawing.

D represents the shelf, which is supported by the braces O O.

The construction herein described is' simple inail pipe, from the fact that vpressure vupon the shelf', by-

drawing out the lower circle of the band, causesI the upper circle togri-pe :the pipe more closely, and the harder the pressure is, the stronger must be its hold.

lhe pressure may `be relaxed, however, by lifting the sl1elt',in which case the baud may be .adjusted vertically, and caused'to approach or lrecede from the lire, as may be desired.'

The combination ofthe band B, braces O O, and shelf D, with the pipe A, when the parts' are constructed as described, for the purpose set forth.
