To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. REINHART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah, State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Piano- Pedal Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as Wlll enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in attachments for pianos and particularly to attachments to permit operation of the same by children or others who can not reach the pedals of the instrument.

Another object is to provide a device of this character which can be quickly and easily attached to or detached from the pedals without injury to the pedals or piano.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing; in which:

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents the pedals of the piano 11. A box 12 having one end opened is placed over the pedals so that it rests on the floor, and the pedals extend into the box. In the top of the box are formed a plurality of openings 13 through which extend the stems 1 1 which are adapted to be depressed by the feet of the player as will be readily understood. The lower end of each of the stems or plungers has a flexible member 15 secured thereto and in which is formed a pocket 16, this pocket being of such size and Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the shape as to receive the projecting end of one of the pedals 18 of the piano. Secured to the member 15 is a covered wire 17, the ends of which are arranged to be wrapped around the shank of the pedal 18. Thus, the engagement of the pedal in the pocket 16 permits the plunger to move up and down with the pedal while the wire prevents the same from slipping from the pedal.

The top or platform 20 ofthe box has a detachable part 2-1 in which is formed onehalf of each of the openings 13. This permits the box to be slipped over the pedals after the plungers have been secured thereto and permits the upper ends of the plungers to pass into the upper ends of the openings carried by the platform. The portion 21 can then be readily slipped into place so that the complete openings receive the plunger stems.

It will of course be understood that the box is of such height that children or other small people can rest their feet at the proper height from the floor and at the same time be in position to actuate the pedals as well as though they were placing their feet directly on the pedals.

What is claimed is:

A piano attachment comprising an elevated platform arranged to be placed over the pedals of the piano, vertically reciprocable plungers extending through the platform, each of the plungers having a flexible pocket on its lower end to receive a pedal therein, and a flexible element carried by the pocket and arranged to be secured around the stem of the pedal.
