To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, Or'ro GAsAU, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at i3roo'klyn, in the county ofKin-gs and'Sta-te of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mattress-Frames, of which 7 the following is a specification.

This invention has to do with spring or mattress frames, it moreparticularly relat- 7. ing to the corner brackets thereof by means of which the frames are supported upon the frame or side bars of the bedstead, the ob ject of the invention being to provide an improved corner bracket or supporting means for "the spring ora nattress frame which is capable of adjustment so as to. enable the spring or mattress frame to be used with varying widths of'bed frames and which 'isalso eifective to interlock the mate tress frame with the bed frame. 7 I

A further object of the invention isthe provision ofa-n improved-mattress frame attachment in the form of a corner bracket which is simple in its construction, effective in use and inexpensive to manufacture, and

by the use of which the mattress frame may fit varying widths'of bed frames and be so interlocked therewith that movement of the mattress frame lengthwiseof the bed frame is prevented. I

It is well known in practice that the bedstead frames of variousmanufacturers differ in width, and it is also well known that weather conditions have considerable to do with varyingthe width of the metallic bed frames, so that it is'desirable that the mattress frame shall have "shif-table or adjustable means whereby it will fit within reasonable limits the varying sizes of bed frames.

It is also well known that mattress frames or spring mattresses warp in transportation as well as in use, so that when applied to the bed frame they frequently rock by reason of the fact that one :or more of the corners do not rest upon the side bars as they should. By reason of the present improvement, however, this rocking of the mattress frame is avoidedbecausethe mattress frame will be interlocked and clamped at all four corners on the side bars, so that each corner will equally bear upon its side bar andbe prevented from rising above.

The mattress frame 2 comprises usually a pair of transverse or crosswise extending members or anglebars 3 for supporting .a

suitable spring fabric 16 under tension connected-to what is known as corner brackets 4:, which corner brackets are usually formed to receive side bars 5. In the present instance each of these corner brackets is provided with a guideway 6 extendingtransverse'ly' of the bracket at the end :of the socket portion 7 which receives the :end of the side bar, this guideway being in the form of a casing closed on all four of its sides but open at its ends. In this guideway casing is located the adjustable member, which consists of an adjustable slotted bar 8 through theslot of which a bolt projects having a threaded end for the reception of a nut 9 adapted to fit in an angular opening 10 of the guideway casing and a wingnut 11 on the end.
