N0 MODEL.
UNITED STATES Patented November 1, 1904.
ANNA C. MALLORY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
CURTAlN-STRETCHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 773,577, dated November 1, 1904.
Application filed May 20, 1904. Serial No. 208,799. (No model.)
To alt whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ANNA C. MALLoRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Stretchers, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a frame for holding curtains while they are drying; and it consists of a sectional frame made adjustable as to length and width to adapt it to the various-sized curtains.
In the accompanying drawing is shown an isometrical representation of my improved frame.
One side bar is composed of the main section 1, having a lengthwise groove 2 in its upper face and a series of prongs 3 extending from the inner edge thereof. Two sections 4: and 5 are fitted to slide in the groove 2, and each is provided with a lengthwise slot 6. Four bolts 7 extend through the main section, and two of such bolts are located in each of the lengthwise slots of the sections 4 and 5. Each bolt receives a thumb-nut 8 on its projecting end. Each of the sections 4 and 5 is provided with teeth or prongs 9. The other side bar is composed of the main section 10, having a lengthwise groove 11 in its upper face and a series of prongs 18 extending from the-inner edge thereof. Two sections 12 and 13 are fitted to slide in the groove 11, and each is provided with a lengthwise slot 14. Four bolts 15 extend through the main section, and two of such bolts are located in each of the lengthwise slots of the sections 12 and 13, and each bolt receives a thumb-nut 16 on its projecting end. Each of the sections 12 and 13 is provided with teeth or prongs 17.
One end bar is composed of two sections 19 and 20. The section 20 is provided with a lengthwise slot 21. Two bolts 22 pass through the section 19 and slot 21 and receive thumbnuts 23 on their projecting ends. These two sections have teeth or prongs 24 extending from their upper surface. One end of each of the sections 5 and 19 is connected in a positive manner, and one end of each of the sections 13 and 20 is likewise connected. The other end bar is composed of two sections 25 and 26. The section 25 is provided with a lengthwise slot corresponding with the slot 21 of section 20. Two bolts 27 pass through the section 26 and the slotof the section 25 and receive thumb-nuts on their projecting ends. These two sections have teeth or prongs 28 extending from their upper surface.
One end of each of the sections 4 and 26 is connected in a positive manner, and one end of each of the sections 12 and 25 is likewise connected.
By means of the slotted sections 4, 5, 12, and 13 the frame can be adjusted as to length, and by means of the slotted sections 21 and 25 the frame can be adjusted as to width. After the frame has been properly adjusted as to length and width the curtain to be held in its stretched condition when drying is placed in connection with the teeth or prongs.
At each corner of the frame is hinged a leg 29, which is held extended by the rods 30. These legs will fold up when the frame is not in use and will support the frame when it is in use.
I claim as my invention An adjustable curtain-stretcher composed of two main side sections, two end sections, each end section composed of two parts adjustably connected, and four extensions having connections with the end sections and adjustable connections with the main side sections, all of the sections provided with teeth or prongs.
ANNA C. MALLORY.
