To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK GorrnsMAN, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Table Attachments for Beds, of which the following is a specification.

rIhis invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in table attachments for beds.

The primary object of the device is the provision of a plurality of table members relatively adjustable for employment by the occupant of the bed as for eating and 'reading purposes.

A further object is to provide two adjust. able table members pivoted to opposite sides of a. bed and readily foldable when not desired for use, the table members having a pivotal connection therebetween. Y

A still further object is to provide'tables pivoted together and adjustably pivoted to opposite brackets carriedA by a bed, which 'brackets are adjustable in position and fold able upon the side rails of the bed.

With these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings forming a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout'the several viewsz-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bed with the improved table operatively positioned thereon. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken through the bed and the device as positioned in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a side view of the device, partlyin section mounted upon a portion of a side rail and shown in dotted lines in its tilted position.

Referring more in detail to the drawings, the bed 10 is shown with its opposite side rails 11 provided with oppositely-arranged brackets 12 pivoted to the outer sides of said rails by means of the bolts 13 and adapted to be secured in adjusted tilted positions by means of winged nuts 14 screw-threaded upon said bolts.

One of the rods 16 is provided with the red uced extension 21 and adapted for recept1on wlthin a socket 22 in the end of the other rod and whereby the two rods are posltioned in alinement while the tables 18 may be individually secured at diierent inclinations.

From the above detailed description, it is thought that the complete operation of the device will be at once apparent in that with the tables assembled extending over the bed, the entire structure may be tilted as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3 and then secured by means of the winged nuts 14 engaging the side brackets 12. When desired to disassemble the device, the screws 17 and 2O are released, and the rods 16 slidably removed from the tables and brackets while the brackets may be folded downwardl in either diextend' rection upon the outer sides o the bed rails j and with the notches 23 of the brackets seatg over the pi'ns 24 outwardly-extending from the side rai-ls.
