To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN S. GAL- LUP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hammond, in the parish of Tangipahoa and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Casement- Window Operators, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a window opener, and more particularly to the class of case-' ment window operators.
The primary .object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character wherein the easement sash of a Window can be readily opened, closed or adjusted from within a room without. necessitating the raising or removal of a screen when placed therein, the device being of novel form and construction to permit the locking of the casementsash closed, opened, or inits adjusted position.
. Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character wherein the easement sash is readily movable without undue exertion on the part of an operator, and which will avoid the necessity of the closing or opening of the sash by the hand as usual, or the manipulation of a screen, that is to say, its removal, or the raising thereof to permit the opening or closing of the easement sash.
A further object of the invention is the provision of adevice of this character which is simple in construction, readily and easily operated, thoroughly reliable and efiicient in its purpose, and inexpensive in manufacture and installation.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevation looking toward the inner side of the window with the device con structed in accordance with the invention applied. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. showing the easement sash closed. Fig. 3 is a similar view, showing the easement sash open. Fig. 4 is an enlarged vertical transverse sectional view through the window casement. Fig. 5 is a fragmentary perspective view of the operating handle.

Referring to the drawings in detail, A designates a portion of a window casement, a portion of the easement sash, and
C a window screen, which may be either of' the hinged or slidable type, while the casement sash is supported on hinges as usual for the swinging thereof to opened or closed position.
The casementsash operator comprises a base plate 10 which is secured in any suitable manner to the upper face of the sill 11 of the window frame or casement, and is formed with a toothed segment 12, while adapted to be swingingly connected with the said plate 10 are superposed adjustably connected disks 13 and 14, respectively, the same having passed centrally therethrough a pivot 15 which is also passed through a spacer member 16 for separating-the lower disk 14 from the plate and engages in the said plate 10, while formed in the disk 13 are arcuately arranged rows of openings 17 p for receiving adjusting screws 18 which are engaged in the lower disk 1% so that these disks can be adjusted relative to each other. The disk 13 is formed with an extension 19 to which is adjustably connected a throw.
lever 20, the same being formed with a pluralityof elongated slots 21 through a pair of which are passed adjusting screws 22, the same being engaged in the extension 19 for the fastening of the lever 20 thereto, it being readily seen that the lever can vbe adjusted to vary the throw thereof.

pivot bolt 29 mounted in the outer end of the lever 20 for the slidable connection of the latter with the cam plate 27 so that on the raising of the handle 24 for the disen gagement of the keeper 26 from the segment 12, and upon moving the said handle 24: in one direction the lever 20 will be operated so as to swing the casement sash B to .open position, the swinging movement of the sash being determined by the extent of the slot 28 in the cam plate 27 fastened thereto. .01? course it is obvious that on a reverse movement of the handle 2- the sash -13 can be closed, or on limitingthe movement of the handle the sash can be swung to any desired position to vary the opening of the window, and on lowering the handle 24 the keeper 26 will engage with the segment 12 thereby securing the sash in its adjusted position, or either opened or closedaccording to the adjustment of the said handle by the operator. Secured to the base plate 10 is a covering plate 30 formed with a depending marginal flange 31 formed with an opening 32 in which works the handle extension 23, it being understood of course that the screen frame is cut away at the point of the baseplate 10 and covering plate 30 to'accommodate the same.
It will 'be apparent that the window sash when closed or wide open will be locked by the pivot bolt 29-engaging in the offset ends of the cam slot 28 so that it is unnecessary to fasten the same by the handle 24 hereinbefore described.
From the foregoing descriptiom taken in connection with the accompanying drawmgs, theconstructwn and manner of operation of the device will be clearly under plate adapted to be secured to the sash and having a cam slot provided with reversely directed terminal branches forming seats, a base plate adapted to be secured to the casement and formed with a toothed segment, superimposed adjustably connected disks pivoted centrally in the base plate, a throw arm adjustably connected to one of the said disks, and a' pivot bolt mounted in the free end of the arm and movable through'the cam slot and adapted to engage either of said seats to hold the sash when opened or closed.
2. A casement sash operator comprising a plate adapted to be secured to the sash and having a cam slot provided with reversely directed terminal branches forming seats, a base plate adapted to be secured to the casement and formed with a toothed segment, superimposed adjustably connected disks pivoted centrally in the base plate, a throw arm adjustably connected to one of the said disks, a pivot bolt mounted in the free end of the arm of said seats to hold the sash when opened or closed, a handle swingingly connected to the other disk, and a toothed keeper on the said handle and engageable with the toothed segment to lock the throw arm in adjusted position at points intermediate the extreme movements thereof.
