To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GOTTFRIED GAERTNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper IIolders,

ofwhich the following is a specification.

This invention relates to fly paper holders in which one of theobjects is to provide a supporting base the opposite sides of which are, adapted for detachable engagement with the fly paper holder. thereby especially adapting thesame for association with ceilings or the like, wherein a double contacting face against which the flies abut will be provided.

Another object of the invention is to provide improved clamping means which detachably engage the fly paper with the supporting base and at the same time, prevent thecontacting thereof upon which it is carried should it be desired to lay the same upon a table or the like, and at the same time, providing ample space therebeneath, so as to allow for the entrance of flies, permitting them to contact with the fly paper of the underside as well as the upper side of the supporting base when the device is laid on a table as above pointed out, the clamping elements being so constructed as to be expeditiously disengaged from the fly paper by the operator when so desired. I

A further object of the invention is to provide clamping elements so constructed as to clamp the paper on both sides of the supporting base and to provide finger-loops by which the clamps are readily disengaged from the paper, and at the same time, providing spacing members in order to hold the fly paper in spaced relation to the objects with which they are engaged.

Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and .scope of my invention will be more readily understood from the following description-taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming'a part of this specification.

Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is plan view of the device constructed inaccordance with my invention illustrating the application thereof, Fig. 2 isa side elevation of the same, showing fly paper detached from one side thereof, and Fig. 3 is an end view of the same.

In the drawings, wherein is illustrated the preferred embodiment of this invention a base or support 5 is provided which in the present instance comprises an ordinary plate of wood, metal or any other suitable material in which is mounted a hook 6 by which the device is pendently supported on the ceiling, wall or any other suitable place. The means by which the fly paper 7 is secured to the opposite sides of theebase 5 in the present instance comprises a plurality of identical clamping elements 8, each of which is formed from a single metallic resilient' strap, the opposite ends of which are bent to provide loop eyes '9 which'engage with the paper on the opposite sides of the base 5, while the ends adjacent the loop eyes 9 are turned at right angles to the body in order to provide a substantially U -shaped structure in side elevation, the vertex 10 of the U being engaged with the oppositeend of the base 5, as shown to advantage in Figs. 1 and 2. By this peculiarft'ormation of clamps it is obvious that the paper is yieldingly engaged with the supporting base at both ends thereof, the looped ends 9 not only providing clamping means in order to hold the paper to the base, but likewise being of a sufiiciently large size to accommodate a finger therein in order that the paper may be readily disengaged from the base when so desired, the loops 9 likewise serving the purpose of spacing elements in order to prevent the contact of the paper 7 with a table or other object upon which the device is laid it being of course understood that the holder may be supported in this manner as well as by the hook 6.. a

In operation we will assume that the clamping elements 8 are engaged with the opposite ends of the base 5 in:the mannerl The fly paper is be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A fly paper holder including a'base the opposite sides of which are adapted for engagement with the paper, and means carried by the base and having a portion engaged with each face of the latter for clamping the paper on both sides of the base.

2. A fly paper holder includinga base, the opposite sides of which are adapted for engagement with the fly paper, and means arranged on opposite ends of the base and engaging with the opposite sides thereof to hold the paper thereon. a

A fly paper holder including a base, the opposite sides of which are adapted for engagement with the fly paper, straps arranged on the base, the end of each strap engaging the opposite side of said base to hold the fly paper thereon.

opposite sides of which are adapted for engagement With the fly paper, a plurality of elementsfor clamping the paper in engagement with the base, each of said elements comprising a metallic resilient strap, the opposite ends of which are looped for resilient engagement with the paper on the opposite side of the base, said loops accommo: dating the fingers of the operator therein in order to disengage the same from the paper and likewise providing spacing elements so as to hold the fly paper in spaced relation to the object with which it is engaged.

5.
