GODFRIED LAUBE AND HATTIE R. LAUBE, OF SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA; SAID GOD- FRIED LAUBE ASSIGNOR T0 GEORGE N. BARTLETT, 013 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
STICKY-FLY-PAPER HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 28, 1909.
Application filed March 6, 1909. Serial No. 481,697.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Goornmo LAUBE and Harris R. LAUBE, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Santa Monica, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sticky-Fly-Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a sticky fly paper holder designed somewhat similar to the paper holders shown in our companion applications, the object of the present invention being'to utilize two trays for protecting and shielding a piece of sticky fly paper arranged between the trays, at the same time permitting easy access to be had to bait placed upon the paper for flies in the vicinity of the holder.
The detail construction entering into the invention will be hereinafter described and then specifically claimed.
Referring to the drawings :Figure 1 is an end View of the holder clamped upon a window-sill, the holder being partly broken away and partly in section, Fig. 2 is a plan of the holder, partly broken away, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.
To put our invention into practice, we provide a tray 1 with upwardly bent corner flanges 2, and upon this tray is placed a sheet of sticky fly paper 3. Adapted to rest upon the tray 1 is an inverted tray frame 4 havingthe corners thereof bent downwardly to provide flanges 5 for engaging the tray 1 inside of the flanges 2, whereby a space 6 will be left between the outer edges of the tray 1 and the frame 4, through which flies can pass to feed upon the bait 7 placed on the sheet of paper 3.
Secured to the tray frame 4 is a screen 8 adapted to admit light between the frame 4 and the tray 1 and attract flies to the paper 8 located upon said tray. To hold the tray frame 4 in position upon the tray 1, the longitudinal edges of the tray 1 are apertured, as at 9, for the hook-shaped ends 10 of curved frames 11 and 12 adapted to arch the tray frame 4 and contact with the edges of said frame, as at 13. The upper end of the frame 12 is bent to provide a hookshaped yoke 14 for engaging under the yoke shaped end 15 of the frame 11, these two frames when locked together firmly retaining the tray frame 4 upon the tray 1.
In order that the tray 1 can be placed upon a window-sill 16 and retained thereon with the lower sash 17 of the window closed, one of the longitudinal edges of the tray 1 is provided with pivoted L-shaped clamps 18 made of wire, which is flattened so that the clamps can be held by the lower sash 17 upon the window-sill. Besides clamping the holder upon a window-sill, the holder can be suspended from a hook or similar support.
The tray 1 and the tray frame 4 -are made ornamental, whereby the holder in its entirety will present a neat appearance, and with the tray frame 4 and the paper 3 re moved, the tray 1 can be used for supporting other objects.
Having now described our invention what we claim as new, is
1. A paper holder comprising a tray having the corners thereof bent upwardly to provide flanges, an inverted tray frame located upon said tray and having the corners thereof bent downwardly to provide flanges engaging the tray and supporting the tray frame in spaced relation to the tray, a screen carried by said tray frame, and frames pivotally connected to the longitudinal edges of said tray and adapted to be hooked together for holding said tray frame upon said tray.
2. A paper holder comprising a tray having the corners thereof bent upwardly to provide flanges, an inverted tray frame located upon said tray and having the corners thereof bent downwardly to provide flanges adapted to rest upon said tray inside of said tray flanges, and a screen carried by said tray frame.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
