To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, Gonrmno LAUBE and Harris R. LAUBE, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Santa Monica, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to paper holders, and more particularly to a device for holding sticky fly-paper. I

The primary object of our invention s to provide a device for safely supporting stlcky fly-paper in place conducive to attract ng and catching flies, and in safely supportlng the paper we aim to prevent wind, a draft of air and persons from contacting with the paper, dislodging the same, and injuring clothes, furnishings, etc. by the paper contacting therewith.

Another object of our invention is the provision of novel means for positively supporting a piece of sticky fly-paper, whereby the paper will be firmly supported and in such a position that the paper can be easily and quickly removed at any time.

A further object of our invention is to provide novel means in connection with the holder for supporting the same upon a window-sill, the interior or exterior relative to the sash thereof, whereby flies attracted by light will be caught and prevented from disturbing the occupants of a compartment or injuring the contents thereof.

\Vith the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be presently described and then specifically claimed.

Referring to the drawings forming a part of this application, Figure l is a plan of a paper holder constructed in accordance with our invention, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same, illustrating the paper holding and sustaining members in an open position in dotted lines, and Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the holder supported upon a window-sill.

In the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a rectangular tray having end flanges 2 and side flanges 3, forming a receptacle for a sheet of sticky fly-paper 4. The flanges 2 are provided with apertures 5 and connecting the flanges 2 are longitudinal guards 6 and 7. These guards are constructed of wire and the outer ends of the guards are shaped to provide hooks 8 adapted to ex- I tend through the apertures and engage the flanges 2, said hooks having inwarc ly projecting extensions 9 adapted to engage the sticky fly-paper 4 and retain the same upon the tray. The guards 6 and 7 are provided with bends l0 and 11, the bends 10 being connected by transverse tie rods 12. The inner end of the guard 7 is bent to provide a loop 13 and adapted to extend through said loop is the resilient triangular end 14: of the guard 6, the resilient end of said guard being bent to form a spiral spring portion 15 and keeper 16 for the ends of the loop 13. The longitudinal flanges 3 of the tray are provided with apertures 17 and extending through said apertures and engaging the outer edges of the flanges 3 are transverse braces 18, said braces engaging the bends 11 of the guards 6 and 7.

hen the paper holder is to be used in connection with a window-sill, the holder is retained upon the window-sill 19 (see Fig. 3) by a yoke 20, which is loosely connected to one of the longitudinal flanges 3 of the tray by the ends of said yoke engaging in apertures 21 provided therefor in one of the flanges. The outer edge or end of the yoke 20 is bent, as at 21, whereby after the sash 22 of the window has been lowered upon the yoke 20, the bent portion 21 of said yoke will prevent the holder from becoming accidentally disengaged from the sill 19. If it is desired to suspend the holder from a chandelier or similar fixture, a hook 23 can be used, said hook engaging the spiral spring portion 15 of the guard 6, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

The guards 6 and 7 together with the braces 18' are employed for preventing a per son from accidentally contacting with the sticky fly-paper supported by the holder, and when it is necessary to remove the sticky fly-paper to renew the same, it is only necessary to disconnect theguards 6 and 7 and elevate said guards to the dotted position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. This is easily accomplished by disconnecting the ends of the braces 18 at one side of the holder.

It is obvious that when the holder is supported upon a window-sill or from a chandelier that it will be impossible for a draft or gust of wind to remove the sticky flypaper, and we would have it understood that when the holder is suspended from a chandelier that the yoke can be removed.

Vhile in the drawings forming a part of this application, there is illustrated the preferred embodiments of our invention, we do not care to limit ourselves to the size, and such other changes in the details of construction as fall within the scope of the invention.

Having now described our invention what we claim as new, is.: I

In a device of the character described, a supporting tray having apertured end and side flanges, combined with a guard embodying two wire frame members each provided at their outer ends with hook engaging the apertured end flanges of the plate, one of said frames having a loop at its inner end and the other frame having a spring-keeper at the inner end engaging said loop, each frame embodying said arms provided intermediate their ends with bends, transverse tie rods attached to said bends and connecting the side arms together, and transverse braces connected at their ends to the apertured side flanges, and engaging said frames.
