This invention relates to improvement in fly traps. c

The principal objects 0f the invention 1s to provide a simple and novel device for supporting sticky fly paper in such a manner that the flies are attracted within the de vice and in attempting to leave the 4same stick to the paper.

Another object is to provide a device of this character which will support a plurality of sheets of sticky fly paper in such a manner that the flies can be caught either outside or inside of the trap.

A still further object is to provide a simple device of this character and-one which is effective in use and which can be conveniently placed without danger of contact by persons or danger of the gum dripping onto the floor or articles in a room.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 and 11 represent a pair of clips, each of which comprises a pair of flat plates 12 of a length equal to the width of the ordinary sheet of sticky fly paper. Each of the plates is formed with a plurality of struck up and round tongues 13 which are disposed in vertical alinement and received vertically therethrough the depending arms 14 of a wire yoke 15. This yoke is less in length than the sheet of fly paper, for a purpose which will appear hereinafter.

The lower ends of eachof the arms 14 extends below the clip and 1s in theformof a hook `17 and supports one end of a drip tray 18. The intermedi-` ate portion of the yoke 15 is formed with a loopv or eye 19 for engagement with a hook for attachment of a string to suspend the device. A substantially S-shaped hook member 20 has one end engaged in the loop 19 Yand the other end depending between the clevis and carrying a suitable bait 21 which may be a piece of felt or other suitable substance covered with molasses, dipped in a saturate solution of sugar or other substance which will attract the ies to the trap.

In preparing the trap for use, four sheets of sticky fly paper are necessary, these sheets being arranged in pairs, each pair being arranged back to back. The opposite ends of the sheets are clamped between the jaws of the clevis 10 and 11 and placedso that the pairs are bowed outwardly in opposite directions. This is readily accomplished for the reason that the distance between the clips is considerably less than the length of the sheets of fly paper. Vhen the paper sheets have been so placed, the bait is placed on the hook and the hook engaged with the eye 19 and caused to depend between the sticky surfaces of the inner sheets. Thus is formed an inclosure, the side walls of which are sticky, `and flies or other flying insects attracted by the bait and flying up between the inner sheets of paper will come in contact therewith and be caught. The outer surfaces of the outer sheets will also catch the flies as in the ordinary use of the sticky fly paper. The tray 18 is sufliciently large to catch the drippings from the sheets held by the clips. The drippings in the tray also serve to catch flies or other insects.

IVhat is claimed is:

1. A fly trap comprising a yoke, clips carried by the arms of the yoke, said clips being spaced a distance less than the length of the ordinary sheet of sticky fly paper, said clips being adapted for clamping the ends of a plurality of sheets of sticky flypaper so that said sheets will bow outwardly away from each other, a bait holding device carried by the yoke and depending between the sheets of paper and a drip pan suspended below the paper.
