To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, CHRsTrAN F. SToNEn and FRANK B. TROUT, citizens of the United States, residing at Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

Our invention i relates to a holder for sticky fly-paper, and comprises a supporting frame which may be hung upon the wall, thus hiding the captured flies from view, and protecting the paper from coming into contact with other objects, which is apt to be the case when the paper is laid upon a table, or the holder may be set upon a table and the back of the holder extending above the surface will prevent any object other than insects from sticking to the paper, or if the holder is blown over the back will prevent the surface of the paper from sticking to the table or other objects.

Another obj ect of the invention is to provide means whereby the paper may be readily retained upon the holder without danger of its being accidentally removed, and it is also retained in a horizontal manner, which prevents all danger of the sticky composition runningolf when it becomes thin in warm weather, as is often the case.

Still another object of the invention is to produce a holder that may be folded into a compact manner for transportation, or when not in use, and still be so constructed that when in use the back will be held rigidly at right angles to the paper supporting frameand the whole braced in a substantial manner.

Our present invention is an improvement over our applications filed Apl. 29, 1909, Serial No. 492,831, and June 16, 1909, Serial No. 502,421, respectively.

With these and other objects in view our invention consists in certain construction and combination of parts, as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application, and in which like gures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views; but it is fully understood that while we have here described our invention as shown, that we do not conne ourselves to the exact design as shown, as slight changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the several parts without departingfrom the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings: Figure 1, is a perspective view of the device in a position ready for use, with the paper removed. Fig. 2, is a top plan view of the saine, showing in dotted lines a portion of the back and one of the retaining catches in their position when the device is folded. Fig. 3, is a partial detail side view, more fully illustrating the back retaining catch. Fig. 4, is a perspective view of the device, showing a modication of the back retaining catch and the paper holding clamps. Fig. 5, is a plan view of the same, showing in dotted lines a portion of the back and one of the catches when folded. Fig. 6, is a detail partial side elevation of the same.

Referring to the drawings of our device, which we have here illustrated as being con structed of resilient wire, but which may be made of any suitable material, the same consists of a rectangular frame composed of the front 1, the back 2, and the sides 3, and 4, which are joined together by the longitudinal bars 5.

The back is composed of the rod 6, which has a suspending loop 7, formed in the center thereof, and the downwardly depending ends 8, which are hinged at their lower ends to the back 2, of the frame; while at the intersection of the bar 6, with its depending portions 8, are formed the loops 9.

Hingeably mounted upon the sides 3, and 4, between the back bars 2, and 5, are the back retaining catches 10, which are formed with the arm 11, having the hook 12, formed in the upper end thereof and adapted to engage the loop 9, and thus retain the back at right angles to the frame.

For retaining the paper upon the frame we provide the bars or clamps 13, which are hinged to the back bar 2, and are formed with a hooked end 14, and are adapted to rest upon the surface of the paper and hook over the bar 1.

In Figs. 4, 5, and 6, we show a modified form of back retaining catch 15, which is formed with an arm 16, terminating in a hook 17, adapted to be forced over the loop 9, and engage the upper side of the bar 6. Ve also show in Figs. 4, 5, and 6, a modiiied form of paper retaining clamp 18, which is hinged upon the sides 3, and 4, between the bars 5, and is formed with the two diverging arms 19, Which terminate in the hooked ends 20; said arms 19, being adapted to fold down upon the surface of the paper and the hooks 20, engage the bars 1, and 2.

Having thus described our invention what We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is As an article of manufacture, a ily-paper holder, comprising a paper retaining support, a back hinged to said support, a suspending loop formed in said back, loops formed in the upper corner of said back, back retaining catches hinged to said support, hooks formed in the end of said catches and adapted to engage the loops formed in said back for the purpose of retaining said back in an upright position, and means secured upon said support for retaining the paper thereon.
