COMBINED PICTURE-HANGER,WALL-POCKET, AND HAT-RACK.

EPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 543,735, dated July 30, 1895.

Be it known that 1, JOHN HOUSE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Davis, in the county of Tucker, in the State of WVest Virginia, have invented a new and usef ul Combined Picture-Support, Wall-Pocket, and Hat-Rack, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in combined picture-supports, wall-pockets, and means for hanging or sustaining coats, hats, and similar articles.

My invention consists in the novel construction of parts and their combinations, as will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

I have fully and clearly illustrated my invention in the accompanying drawing, wherein is represented in rear view my improved device, and referring thereto-- A designates a picture-frame and backing of the picture, which may be of any of the usual shapes and constructions. The rear of the frame and backing constitute the front of the wall-pocket in that part indicated in the drawing.

B B designate supporting-rods of the pictureframe and backing, and at the same time are the frame and end supports for the wallpocket. These supporting-rods may be made of wires, and are formed with hooks, as shown, extending below the lower edge of the frame, so that they can be utilized to hang articles on, such as hats, coats, &c., and above the hooks the supports extend vertically and lie against the backing, .and are held to turn in keepers 1 fastened to the back, substantially as shown. Above the upper keepers the supports are bent outward at an angle, as shown, so that the upper part will stand away from the back piece, and are then directed Vertically and provided with eyes 2 at their upper ends to provide means to take pins or nails 3,

which the device is suspended and hold it in 45 position. On the upper and angular portions of the supporting-rods is secured a piece of flexible material B, such as strong paper or some suitable textile material, forming the back and bottom of the wall-pocket, the lower edge of the piece B lying close 'to or being secured to the backing of the frame.

It will be observed that the supporting-rods may be turned in their keepers, so that in packing the devices the rods may be turned to lie flat with their angular portions down on the backing of the frame and with the hooks in alignment with the surface thereof, and thus take up but little room.

Instead of a picture or similar ornamentation on the front, a mirror may be substituted.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combined picture support and Wall pocket herein described, comprising the frame A and its backing, the supporting rods B, B formed with hooks at their lower ends extending below the frame and having their upper and lower portions substantially parallel on different planes and an angular middle portion, and provided with eyes in their upper ends, the pocket B, of flexible material secured to the angular parts and upper portions of the supporting rods, and keepers 1, on the backing over the said rods wherein the rods may turn and lie with the angular parts and hooks in alignment with the plane of the frame, substantially as described.
