FRANCIS M. WYBAILLIE AND LENA WYIBAILLIE, OF NEWv YORK, N. Y.
SANITARY TOOTH-BRUSH HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 21,191
Application filed February 25, 1916. Serial No. 80,545.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, FRANCIS M. A.
WYBAILLIE and LENA WYBAILLIE, citizens of.
the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Tooth-Brush Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The general object of this invention is to refine the construction of tooth brush hold ers in point of providing a means-for conveniently supporting the brushes so that the brush ends may be covered .and kept in a clean and sanitary condition and in providing a means for supporting bottles or tubes of dentifrice so that they may be held within convenient reach of a user. And to these ends the invention consists of a bracket on which is arranged, a series of devices adapted for supporting the brushes and dentifrice articles and hingedly mounting on the bracket atransparent cover and arranging the same so that when in its closed position the brush ends of the brushes will be covered.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of our. invention of, which the following is a specification reference being had to the accompzilnylilng drawingsforming part hereof, in w 1c Figurel isa perspective view of our improved brush and dentifrice'holder showing the same adapted to use. Fig. 2 is a cross sectional View of the same showing the cover swung .to an open position in dotted lines. Fig.3 is a detail perspective view of one of the springclips detached from the bracket.
1 indicates a bracket comprising a back onwall piece 2 to which is secured'a series of spring clamps or clips 3 and 4 indicates a cover hingedly connected to the back or wall piece and arranged for covering a portion of the series of spring clips as shown.
The back 2 is preferably formed of a thin sheet metal and is curved and beveled at its edges as indicated at 5 so as to provide a means for strengtheningrthe same and lending an attractive appearance to the holder. Any suitable means, such as by the screws 6, may be employed forsecuring the back to a wall or other suitablesupport. A series of small'perforations 7 are formed in the back' piece adjacent the lower edge thereof and within these perforations are mounted the clips 3, withwhich the handles of the brushes are adapted to be engaged for suspendingly supporting the brushes against accidental and unintentional disengagement. The narrow neck portion of the brush handles are preferably designed to be engaged by the spring 0 ips so that the brush ends may be held in substantially an upright position as shown. Large perforations 9 are also formed in the back piece,-adjacent the side thereof, for receiving the large supporting clips 10,;with which the'bottles or tubes of dentifrice are engaged for suspendingly supporting the same. The large and small spring clips are similar in structure and each is preferably formed from a single strip of flat metal, bent and curved as shown, to form the clamping jaws 11..
from the rear ends of which are upstruck the lateral ears 12. These ears are provided for rigidly effecting the engagement of the spring clip with the back piece, the ears be-.
ing bent against the inner surfaces of the back piece after the clip is inserted within the perforation.
, Connected to the back piece means of a the hinges 13 is the cover 4 which is arranged soas to inclose the series of small clips 3 and to cover and protect the brush ends of the brushes when they are held by the clips. The cover is rectangular in cross section and is preferably formedof transparent material such as glass, celluloid or the like so that the various styles of brushes held therein may be seen. By forming the cover of transparent material it will also be obvious that should the holder be placed in a positionwhere it would be struck by the .In the upper side edges of the cover is formed a series of small air or ventilating .holes 16 through which, and through the slots 15, air will circulate thus drying the To, more brushes-held within the holder.
eflectively seal the edges of the cover that edge, the said free edge of the cover being adapted to engage the bracket below the located at its free clips whereby the notches'lie vertically under the clips when the cover'isin a'closed position on the bracket and the clips are incaed 15 between the bracket and the cover;
In testimony whereof 'we aflix oursignatures in presence of'two witnesses.
