ARTHUR LEWY'I, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
BRUSH AND GLASS HOLDER.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Got. I6, IFI 7.
Application filed October 10, 1916. Serial No. 124,852.
To all whom zt may concern:
Beit known that I, ARTHUR Lnwr'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of 5 lngs and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush and Glass Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in sanitary tooth-brush and glass holders. More particularly, it has reference to a holder adapted to be hung upon a wall or the back of a sink to retain tooth-brushes in such a mamierthat they may be covered by a drinking glass, which the holder is also adapted Ato support. Figure 1 illustrates in perspective a holder embodying an application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view illustrating a modification and showing a drinking glass in position. Fig. 3 is a similar view illustrating another modification, and Fig. l is a detail of the brush holder or platform shown in Fi 1, showing the same in perspective, looking up at the same.
5 indicates a suitable hanger or strap of metal such as brass or steel, provided with a hole such as 6, at the top from which` it may be hung from a nail or hook in the wall,
This hanger or strap is preferably bent upwardly at the end so as to receivethe brush support or platform 7 in the position shown in Fig l or. inverted as shown in Fig. 4. This brush support may also be stamped out of sheet metal and may be formed with the socket 8 shown to better advantage in Fig. 4, said socket being adapted to fit over the end 5 of the strap 5. 9 indicates a suitable hole in the support or platform 7 through which the handle of a tooth-brush such as 9 may be introduced as shown.
In the modification shown in Fig. 2 it will be observed that the brush support or platform 7 is formed In other words, the entire article or holder may be stamped out of a single piece of sheet metal and may be bent as shown in Fig. 2. en in use the integrally with the rim of the glass 10 passes between the walls 5-`5 of the holder and rests therein as shown.
In the forms shown in Figs. l and 3 the platforms 7&7 are preferably provided with a circular groove 1l adapted to receive the rim of the glass 10.
From the foregoing it will be seen that my improved holder not only provides support for one or several tooth-brushes, but also provides support for a drinking glass or tumbler, and in such a manner that the tumbler serves as a sanitary shield or guard to protect the brush or brushes from dust or other outside contamination.
Of course it will be understood that various changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
l. 'An article of the cla described comprising a flat ribbon-like strip of material looped at the bottom and provided with means for hanging the same at the top, and a support in combination with said looped bottom adapted to hold a tooth brush and upon which a glass may be seated, and an annular groove/ in said support adapted to receive the 'rim of said glass 2. An article of the class described comprising a flat ribbon-like strip of material looped at the bottom and provided withV the top, and
means for hanging the same at a support in combination with said looped bottom adapted to hold a tooth brush and upon which a glass may be seated, and an annular groove in said support adapted to receive the rim of said glass, said support being detachable and adapted for engagement with said loop in an inverted position. In testimony whereof I hereunto allix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR LEWYT.
