Description

e. LUNDY. mom BRUSH HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED NOV. 5, F915- M PI m A ."Patmted Apr. 18,1916.
GABRIEL LUNIIDY, 01E MADISON, WISCONSIN.
Town-BRUSH HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1%, 191 6..
Application filed November 5, 1915. Serial No. 59,773.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, GABRIEL LUNDY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Madison, in the county of Dane and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Tooth-Brush Holder, of which the following is a. full, clear, and exact description.
My invention has for its object to provide a tooth brush holder having walls, and a cover which extends beyond the walls but does not contact therewith at all points, so
that there may be a circulation of air within.
the holder, to dry the tooth brushes which are inserted at the open bottom of the holder, and are supported on a rack within the holder.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification, in which the preferred form of my invention is described.
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views, in Which Figure 1 is a perspective View showing my tooth brush holder; Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 3; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of 2, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view on the line 44 of Fig. 2.
By referring to the drawings, it will be seen that a rear member 10 is provided, the
upper portion of which is curved forwardly and downwardly at 11 to form a cover for the holder, the walls of which are formed from a member 12 which is preferably of a transparent nature, the ends 13 of this member 12 being bent rearwardly and being secured at 14 to the rear member 10. The wall member 12, with its sides 13, is disposed well within the vertical planes at the sides of the cover formed by the curved upper portion 11 of the rear member 10, so that the cover 11 will prevent dust from settling in the openings 15 which are made at the upper edges of the wall member 12, not only in the front thereof, but also at its ends 13. These openings 15 are provided so that there may be some circulation of air within the wall member 12, to facilitate the drying of the brushes.
Disposed between the ends 13 of the wall member 12, and secured to the rear member 10, there is a rack 16, which is provided for supporting the tooth brushes, one of which is indicated at 17 in the drawings. When the wall member 12 is of a transparent nature, there will be no difiic'ulty for the user to press the handle of the tooth brush adj acent the brush, against the rack 16, so that the arms of the rack will engage the handle of the tooth brush 17 to support it, in a manner readily understood.
In the rear member 10, beyond the ends 13 of the wall member 12, there are key slots 18, so that the rear member 10 may be disposed against the wall of a wash room, which is provided with screws or nails with suitable heads 19, said screws or heads being spaced apart so that they will fit into the enlarged lower portions of the key slots 18, and when the rear member 10 is permitted to move downwardly, the screws or nails will move in the upper portions of the key slots, to support the holder. The heads 19 engage the face of the rear member 10 at the sides of the upper portion of the key slots 18, in a manner well understood.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a tooth brush holder, a rear member with its upper portion curved forwardly to form a cover, a transparent wall member having sides extending rearwardly of its middle portion and secured to the rear member, the transparent wall member extending upwardly substantially to the forwardly curved portion of the rear member, there being out in portions along the upper edges of the transparent wall member which with the curved upper portion of the rear member form openings to permit air to circulate within the wall member to dry the tooth brushes, and a rack disposed between the sides of the transparent wall member for supporting the tooth brushes.
2. In a tooth brush holder, a rear member with its upper portion curved forwardly to form a cover, a wall member having sides extending rearwardly of its middle portion and secured to the rear member, the wall member extending upwardly substantially to the forwardly; curved portion of the rear member, there eing out in portions along the upper edge of the wall member which with the curved upper portion of the In testimony whereof I have signed my rear member forms openings to permit air name to this specification in the presence to circulate Within the wall member, to dry of two subscribing witnesses.
