- the size of the loops may be varied at will by loosening the rope at the holes in the plate and drawing the same in or out.
- the bind of the rope at the edges of the holes in the plate normally prevents slip and holds the loops at the size at whichthey are set.
- the cheapness and simplicity of the construction are obvious, and the device is capable of production by any person with a piece of rope and a leather, wood, or metal plate.
- the halter can be produced with a webbing or leather strap or other material.
- the holes 7 instead of being made round are made in the form of slots, through which the webbing or strap is passed in the same manner as shown with the rope.
- a halter comprising a plate having a row of holes along each opposite side edge, and a rope or strap threaded tortuously through the successive holes ofeach row and looped between the end holes of the respective rows into a nose-loop at one end of the plate and a neckloop at the other.
Description
No. 796,025. PATENTED AUG. 1, 1905; J. WILHBLM.
HALTER.
APPLICATION I ILIED APR. 8.1905- mm n (MINA m. nmunncnrnnu wwumm n c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 1, 1905.
Application filed April 8, 1905. Serial No. 254,458.
To all whom it may concern.-
- zen of the United States, residing at Wooster,
in the county of Wayne and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Halters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an adjustable rope halter made of a single piece of rope and aplate having holes through which the rope is passed to form two loops and to hold the rope at adjustment.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side View of the halter in use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view thereof.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 indicates a plate made of leather, metal, or other suitable substance of sufficient rigidity provided with a row of four holes on each side, as indicated at 7 The rope is knotted at one end, as at 8, and then passed through the two end holes to form a nose-loop 9,then over and under through the remaining holes on one side of the plate and back through the remaining holes on the other side of the plate, forming the neck-loop 10, the free end 11 of the rope remaining for hitching or other purposes. The size of the loops may be varied at will by loosening the rope at the holes in the plate and drawing the same in or out.
The bind of the rope at the edges of the holes in the plate normally prevents slip and holds the loops at the size at whichthey are set. The cheapness and simplicity of the construction are obvious, and the device is capable of production by any person with a piece of rope and a leather, wood, or metal plate.
Although illustrated as made with a rope, the halter can be produced with a webbing or leather strap or other material. When made with a webbing or strap, the holes 7 instead of being made round are made in the form of slots, through which the webbing or strap is passed in the same manner as shown with the rope.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A halter comprising a plate having a row of holes along each opposite side edge, and a rope or strap threaded tortuously through the successive holes ofeach row and looped between the end holes of the respective rows into a nose-loop at one end of the plate and a neckloop at the other.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN WILHELM.
