WILLIAM H. TAMBLING, OF ELEROY, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. H0,939, dated January l0, 1871.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. TAMBLING, of Eleroy, in the county of Stephenson, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a curtain-a ture to be attached to awindow-i`ramc, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable .others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe l its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of a window-frame with my curtain-fixture attached thereto, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the upper end thereof.
A represents a window-frame, at the upper edge of which is secured a bracket or cornice, B, of any desired form or shape, plain or ornamented, to suit the taste. At each end of this bracket, on the under side, is fastened an eyebolt, a, in which is inserted the end of a bar, b, to which the curtain is secured in any suitable manner. This bar b, I prefer to make flat, with a tenon at each end on a line with the upper edge of the bar, said tenons being inserted in the eyes of the bolts or screws ad. The curtain can be readily detached from the bracket or cornice by merely turning the eyebolts outward a triie, when the bar b at once comes out, and in the same manner the cur tain is readily attached again. On the under side of the bracket B are fastened three more eye-screws, one, d, a suitable distance from each end, and the third, d, directly in the center. .A cord, e, lis then passed through the two eye-screws d d, the ends passing down along the back of the curtain, around the roller D at its lower end, and up again in front of the curtain through the same eye-screws, d d. Both ends are then passed through the center eyescrew, d, and attached to a weighted tassel, E, which completes my curtain-fixture. The curtain is rolled up on the roller D and balanced at any height by means of the Weighted tassel E.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the cornice B, placed on the face of the window-frame at or near its top, and provided with the eyebolts a a, (l d, and d', with the curtain O, its cord e, bar b, roller D, and weighted tassel E, all as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of December, 1870.
WILLIAM II. TAMBLING.
