IMPROVEMENT IN EXTENSION LOUNGES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,775, dated August 8, 187,1.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, VOLKERT O. HART and JOHN BENJAMIN, of Naples, in the county of Ontario, New York, have invented a new and Iniproved Extensible Sliding Lounge, which is fully described and set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing, in the two fig'- ures of which like letters indicate like parts, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section, as indicated by line .r oi'Fig'. 1.

This invention relates to extension lounges or settees, but more particularly to settees; and consists in the construction and arrangement ofthe ends and of the extensible sliding part thereof, by which the saine may be readily converted into a double or single settee or bed.

A is the front rail, to which are attached the slats S, the end slats being' arranged to slide in grooves 1 in the inside oi the end rails of the lounge, and the back ends of the slats are secured by screws upon the top of a bar, I), as seen in Figs. 1 and 2. B B are the front posts, properly secured torail A and to the sliding ends O C, which are made and arranged so as to slide in the boxed grooves in the lounge ends D D, as shown in Fig. 1. The front feet F are made a little shorter than feet F', to allow theln to slide back and forth without rubbing upon the iioor.

Vhen used for a double lounge or bed the front is drawn out till bar b strikes against the inside of the inner front rail A', in which position the ends O D form the head and footboards of the double bed, or two ends of the double lounge, and slats S and S forni the bed or lounge bottom for receiving and supporting' the spring-seat, inattress, or bed, which may be made so as to fold together when the lounge is closed up and used as a single lounge.
