'IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,054, dated April 22, 1873; application filed February 6, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS SYMoNDs, of

Portland, in the county ofOumberland and i I do hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear, and exact description thereof, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specication.

My invention relates to that class Of curtain-` ixtures in whichan y part of the window, either top or bottom, may be covered, as desired; and it consists in the employment of a detachable carrier or frame for the curtain-roller, suspended by cords running over pulleys, as in the ordinary curtain-xtures of this class, said carrier or frame being provided with springs at each corner and extending downward at each end, and provided with eyes or bearings for the curtain-roller, so that the rollers may be easily inserted in said frames.

The fram es heretofore used have been ri gidly made, which renders it necessary to construct said frames and rollers I'Or each other, and combine them in one apparatus.

By my arrangement the frame may be made so as to be applied to any curtain-roller in use at a moments notice.

In the drawing, c represents the windowframe; b, the curtain; c, the roller, to which the curtain isattached. The roller c has bearings cl d in a frame, e. This frame consists of a wire, e, bent downward at right angles, forming arms e e at each end, as shown, and having a short spiral spring at each corner, as shown, which will allow the arms e" c to be drawn apart for the insertion of the roller c. At the ends of the arms are formed eyes or loops d, in which the ends of the roller c have bearings. At the top Of the window-frame is affixed two trucks or pulleys, f g. On the fra-me e, at h, is attached a cord, i, which passes up over the truck f, and along the window-frame, and over the truck g, as shown, and from thence extending down the side of the window. On the Opposite side oi' the frame e, at k, is attached a second cord, l, which passes up over the truck g and down the side of the window, the same as the cord c'. The cords t' and Z are made fast to a weighter tassel, m.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Fatent, is-

The detachable wire-frame e with spring corners, and eyes at the ends, as and for the purposes described. f
