To all who/m, it may concern Be it known that I, GERHARD P. Humanas, a citizen of the United States, residing' at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuffs, of which the following is a specilication.
My invention relates to cuffs, and has reference more particularly to what are known as soft cii;tfs,that is, a cuil'l in which starch or its equivalent has been omitted `in the lauiulrying thereof, it being understood however that my invention is not limited to this particular class of cuffs, and that it is equally applicable to what are `known as stift or starched cutis, and is not contined to any particular style or shape cuit'.
The object of the invention is to provide a culi which can be fashioned from linen or any suitable material in which the button shank receiving holes are so arranged and constructed that the cuit' buttons can be iuserted therein with great ease, and can be easily removed, which obviates the usual ditliculty and annoyance occasioned` by the operation of securing cuff buttons through the holes against disengagement, and which minimizes the wear `upon the button holes, incident to the insertion and removal oit' the buttons, the button holes being so arranged with relation to the body part oit' the cuil that when the buttons are inserted through the laittonzholes, the possibility of the/buttons` becoming' disengaged from thebutton holes and probablylost is reduced ipracticallyto a minimum.
The tendency of `a cuff button to become y disengageil from the; button hole of a cuff constructed in accordance with this invention is to a degree practically obviated, and for this reason the invention is particularly applicable to soft or unstarched cnil's which by reason of their liimsiness the tendency of the buttons to `become disengaged `from the button holes is more or less apparent.
The invention further consists in certain novel features ot' construction, combinations 1angement of parts, which will be more fully described and particularly set forth in the claim, reference being `had to the accompanying drawings forming apart of this specification, in which a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated,
