ALBERT Gr.
To all whom it may concern llc it known that l, LLLBERT Gr. llZtAnnINenn, citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, lllissouri, have invented certain new and useful linlplf)VQlDGDtS in llaubers for lllacking, Polish, and the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to iinprovemcnts in danhers :tor hlacking, polish and the like and has tor its object a pad mounted around a stifii'cning plate and a handle supported thereon by which the device can be readily used.
A further object is to provide a dauber which is especially adapted to be placed in the box containing the polish or blocking and to remain therein when not in use.
Figure 1 is a perspective view o l a blacle ing box with my improved danber therein. Fig. 2 i a vertical sectional view of box and dauber. Fig. 3 a perspective view of my improved dauber disconnected showing the several parts and their construction. Fig. t is an enlarged fraginental sectional view showing the connection of the parts.
In carrying out my invention I provide dauber constructed of? three parts, a. pad a of felt or other fabric, a stitlening plate 6 and a handle 7.
The stiffening plate 6 which forms the rigid body portion of the dauber is provided with a plurality of burs 8 preferably stamped out ot the material arainged as shown and are bent upwardly so that the ends or flaps 9 of the pad 6 can contact tl'ierewith and be pressed down permitting the burs to penetrate the pad.
lVhen the ends of the pad are passed over the burs the edges 10 of the flaps contact shown. The handle 7 which is preferably of a link form as shown is placed upon the pad and between the projecting burs. The burs are then bent downwardly over the bottom strand 11 of the handle in the form of loops or hooks 12 acting as hinges to support the handle as well as to permit the same t. as same a horizontal as well as a vertical po sition.
The dauber constructed as described is especially adaptable for use in connection with blacking or polish in containers and is to remain therein when not in use and to be Specification of Letters; Patent.

co vcrcd by the lid 13 ot' the container 1%. By this arrai nicnt a danber is at all times conveiucn and by means of its handle the pad can be brought in contact with the blocking or polish and the same applied on the shoes.
The body portion of the dauber can be constructed oi any shape as found desirable inorder to 'iroperly fit into the receptacle.
llavin fully described my invention what if claim is: l. A dauber comprising a central stifllennig member, a pad located around the same and a .lUOpQd handle attached to the stiiit'ening nieinher.
A. dauber comprising a pad folded upon itselt, a stiticning plate located between the folds and a looped handle attached thereto.
3. it danber conn rising a pad of fabric, having its ends folded together, a stifiiening ate, burs formed on the plate and projectthrough the pad, and a looped handle supported by the burs.
l. A. dauber comprising a fabric body the sonic bent so that its ends contact, a plate located in the body and beneath the folded ends, burs stamped out of the plate and penetrating the bent ends. a link handle located on the body and held niovably between the burs, substantially as specified.
it. dauber for use in blocking boxes comprising a folded pad, a stiffening member located between the folds, and a folding handle supported thereon, substantially as specified.
(3. A dauber comprising a soft pad the ends bent over on itself so as to contact, a slitl cning plate located between the folds and the pad, integral burs formed in the plate and arranged to project through the folded ends, a handle in the term of a loop placed over the pad and held by the burs bein bent over the horizontal member 01 the loop, substantially as specified.
in testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
