WELDED WROUGHT-IRON ANNEALING-POT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
' Patented May 19, 1914:.
Application filed May 26, 1909. Serial No. 498,542.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EMIL THEoDon LAM- MINE, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Cologne, Germany, formerly residing in Miilheim on the Rhine, Germany, have invented an Improved Welded VVrought-Iron Annealing-Pot, of which the following is a specification,
The object of the invention shows a special form of construction of the wrought iron annealing cylinder according to patent application Serial No. 431272 of May 6th, 1909.
The present'inventiondiffers from the ob ject of that application in that the upper molded rim, separately made, of profile iron is combined with the carrying lugs and the casing by means of welding. The advantage of this change consists therein that a much greater stability of the annealing cylinder together with abetter and tighter fit:
ting of the lid is attained, a deformation of the cylinder at the upper end,'which is to be observed in larger pots on account of the high claims made thereon, is precluded during the heating; Additiona ly this separately constructed and welded on rim makes another use of the same possible in case the casing should have become useless, It is the same whether the annealing cylinder has smooth or profiled walls for adjusting the rim; the profile iron may be so worked as to serve as asupport for two lids.
The drawing represents a central sectional view of an annealing pot formed -in accordance'with my invention. v
Referring to the drawing specifically, the upper part of the cylinder 1 1s surmounted by a rim constructed of profile iron 2 and again on this sit the carrying lugs 3. All the junctions are performed by means of welding. I
The term profile iron as used herein is intended to cover a metal structure ofa desired crosssection suitable for the, purposes of the invention.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is 1. As an article of manufacture, an annealing cylinder consisting of a body, and a cover receiving rim for said cylinder annular-1y channeled to form a cover seat, the lower portion of'said rim being formed as a continuation of the wall of said cylinder and in vertical alincinent therewith and having its lower edge welded to the upper edge of said cylinder some distance below the said seat.
2. As an article of manufacture, an annealing cylinder consisting of a body having a wrought iron wall, the upper edge of which is channeled, and a cover receiving rim for said cylinder, the lower portion of said rim being formed with a .cover seat and a lower portion constituting a continuation of the wall of said cylinder and in vertical alinement therewith, and having its lower edge rounded and welded to the channeled upper edge of said cylinder at a point some distance below the cover seat, said lower portion being of greater thickness than the wall of the cylinder, and having, its upper portion also thickened and bent to form a sl1oulder to receive a cover.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
EMIL THEODOR LAMMINE.
