UNTED QPATEQT A 'OLPH H. COHN, 0F LAECHMONT, NEW YORK.
Hoen-surron'rna.
['0 GEZ whom it may concern Be it known that l, ADOLPH H. CoHN, a residing at Larchmont, in the county of Westchester and State of N ew York, have invented cerain new and useful improvements in Hose- Supporters.
My invention relates generally to new and useful improuements in hose supporters, and more particularly to hose supporters of that character or type which are adapted to encircle the limb of the wearer below the lrnee and provided with a suitable engaging device to be attached of the leg of aphalf-hose.
The invention consists in the construction and improvements to be fully described hereinafter and the novelty of which will be particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed.
l have fully and clearly illustrated my invention in the accompanying drawings to be taken as a part vof this specification and wherein:
Figure l is a View in elevation of a hose supporter embodying my invention as it appears when worn. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. l. F ig. 3 is a detail view, partly in section, of the fastening device.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, l designates a pad member which is preferably triangular in form and which, when the supporter is adjusted to the limb, as liereinatendescribed, assumes substantially theposition shown in Fig. l of the drawings, on the inside of the limb. This pad may be ot' any material or sub` stance which will adapt it for the purposes for which it is intended, but I prefer to malte it of some non-absorbent water-proof material, such, for instance, as oiled silk, so that it will not absorb, or be affected by, the moisture from the body. lt will be noted that, when.
this pad is in use, one of its angles extends downwardly, and the other two angles laterally. Mounted upon this pad are diverg` ing flexible, elastic members 2 2 which are secured on the pad adjacent the lower end of the latter and diverge upwardly from each other, and lying on the outer surface of the pad, said members being of any suitable Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July '7, 1311.
of which the following is a specto the upper end portionA 'shank of the' button with which Patented dan. 2d, tte. Serial No. 837,2B2.
l lll-shape, as shown in Fig. l, and secured in place on but l prefer to form them oi' athe pad by transverse lines of stitches 3 extending across the pad and the members at a point slight-ly above the folded line of the latter, so as to leave a small depending loop portion l which serves a purpose to be presently described.
5 designates a limb-encircling band which is also preferably made of water-proof nonabsorbent material whichmay be inelastic in the direction of its length, if desired, the ends of said band being looped, as shown at il, and secured to slide buckles 7 on the body of the band to form loops at the ends of said band, and also in order to provide for an adjustment of the length of the latter. Secured in each of these loops on the limbencircling band is a resilient wire loop member 8, which loop members are adapted to coperate with the bers 9, one of which is carried by the free end of each of' the elastic members mounted on the pad l to connect the band 5 to said members. Each of the loop members 8 is provided with a constricted entrance l0 of smaller width than the diameter of the it. coperates so that the loop at its ent-rance will spring about thel'said shank when engaged therewith, and hold the lat-ter against accidental disengagement.
l desirevit understood that l do not wish te be limited to the exact construction of the fastening devices for connecting the ends oi the limb-encircling band with the elastic members,as other fastening devices may be employed without departing ifrom'the spirit and scope of' my invention.
Carried at the lower end or apex of the triangular pad is a dependimg tab of flexible material ll preferably water-proof and nonabsorbent, which tab carries a button'member l2 with the shank and head of which is adapted to coperatie a wire button loop 13, which is suspended and held in the small loop 4 heretofore described formed at the Shanks of button mem-Y eerve es; :m1 lne dche uppe pam y Y I y g pote. nWeie fy f e l f i" wgmtexf, a, pas@ een'bexv en mi deep @hewn i erred Le ehe pad membe l0 in use imei. eee in @ce en xfi v, y wh'n the beundaes of 'Wish 'it Jrd member and ely movab'e en the "5 fesire fm 'tu 13 a Minh-emi; .11mg man nm/ing ene cieecbe :Je et@ euc conxeeed m the pad, elv emembe deep vices may emp@ im' cemxec'ng the m'm 'with enf?. the 'Eile size and elastic men-ef, and a hose-engaging deep abj-, meh# zml 'Le cef-fied by pad. 8G ge'he with the eep ,u a, Rose suppoe, a, pad member, pye im? eemleelw membefs esl-Ch Secured et ene en, io 'Le bhe limbfemre @ed manie? @cated Wholly Within 20 ranged, and pz'epe of he ette each having e ouone end' l A a *imb-ene'clng band een- 85 boundaries d free ens Gf he elastic commet with ae nose-engaging deep emed sei@ 'anemie-ei Y da.
