` stocking and the other over the stocking so that the material may frictionally be retained by the interlocking parts-or gripping jaws of the loops. The gripk on the material is spread over a considerable area and the material, as gripped between the jaws of the interlocking loops, is thus relieved of strains, or rather 'the strains are spread over av considerable area with the result that the stockings are not subjected to tearing action.
The invention consists in certain novel combinations and arrangements of the pair of gripping loops as will hereinafter be more fully pointed out and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings I -have illustrated one complete example ofthe physical embodiment of my invention wherein the parts are combined and arranged according to the best mode I have thus far devised forl the practical application of the principles of my invention. A
Figure 1 is a view illustrating the utility ot the hose supporters.
Figure 2 is an enlarged view showing the suspending web, pair of loops and-attach-l ing tape or ribbon, the parts being illustrated in unfastened position.
Figure 3 is a view illustrating the fastening of the stocking between the jaws of the loops.
Figure 4 is a side view of the fastened supporter of Figure .l
In the drawings I have illustrated the hose supporter adapted for womens wear in connection with the stocking H, and the supporter comprises a Jfolded suspending strap 1 which may be fashioned of suitable material as an elastic web, or inelastic tape, ribbon or other similar desirable material.y At its ends the folded suspending strap is provided with casings 2 in which the loops 8 and 4 are supported, said loops being made up of suit-able metal and preferably resilient. The suspending strap is loosely supported porter.

and this loop as best seen in Figure 21sof the loop to provide lfor the necessary ricv tional and interlocking engagement of the loops. j
The loop 4 is fashioned with ka gripping jaw 11, and a neck portion 12.
In use the loop 8 is slipped under the stocking, then the loop 4 is applied thereto,
outside of the stocking by slipping the jaw 11 over the jaw 9 as indicated in Figures 3 and 4. After the loop 3 is placed under the stocking, the loop 4 is turned sideways or edgewise and inserted throughl Vthe loop 3 pushing the material through said loop, after which the loop 4 is turned within the loop 3 to frictionally engage the material between the-two gripping jaws of the loops, and fasten the supporter to the hose. The grip on the stocking is thus distributed over a large surface or by reducing the liabilityy of tearing the stocking due to strains or pulls thereon by the supporter. 1
A sliding ferrule or band 14 engaging the suspending straps 1 may be slippedback when adjusting the hose supporter' and run down to the loops when the adjustment `is made to insurev that the loops will not be displaced by the movements of the wearer.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A hose supporter comprising a supporting member, a web suspended thereon, a pair `of loops on the ends of the web, aslidable ferrule surrounding and frictionally area of the material thereengaging theweb to prevent displacement of the loops and (3o-acting means on the ends.
of the loo-ps whereby the hose may be gripped and friotionally retained between the ends ofthe loops. f A
2. The combination in a hose supporter with a suspending web and a pair of loops n on the web, of an end jaw and a neck portion fashioned onv one loop, and an .end
' 10 jaw, a neck portion and outspreading shoulthe web ends to tained between the endsl 'of the loops, and
slidable means on the webV ends for elasping prevent displacement of the loops.
In testimony whereof I affix my signaf JEANNETTE J. BofrsFoRD.-
