To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CoNsrANcn M. Mon- RIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVarroad, in the county of Roseau and State of Minnesota, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Forehead- Protectors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in head coverings and more particularly to that class known as hoods, the object of the invention being to provide a hood having a shield thereon which is adapted for protect-ion to the forehead of the wearer when the hood is in use.

vide a hood of the above character which will possess advantages in points of efliciency and durability, is inexpensive of manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.

Vith the above and other objects in view, this invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a detail perspective view illustrating the application of my. invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view; Fig. 3 is a front elevation; Fig. t is a transverse sectional view through the protecting member; and Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of the protecting member.

In carrying out the present invention, the body 1 of the hood may be of any suitable size and shape, but preferably constructed as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. The material of which the hood is constructed may be of Angora yarn or other suitable material. The lower corners 2 of the hood are suitably connected to retain Specification of Letters Patent.

My improved forehead protector which is a used in combination with the above described hood, comprises a single piece of material, the ends of which are provided with the tabs 4 having suitable resilient socket members 5 secured thereto. The upper longitudinal edge of the forehead protector 6 is secured in any suitable manner to the inner side of the upper portion of the hood, said protector being arranged a short distance back from the front edge of the body. After the hood has been placed upon the head, the tabs 4 are then secured to the inner side of the body upon each side of the head, the resilient sockets 5 engaging the headed catch members 7 to securely retain the protector in its operative position as disclosed in Fig. 1. From thisit will be seen that the body of the protector is free to conform to the shape of the forehead of the wearer.

From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be readilyv apparent that I have provided a simple and durable hood having a forehead protecting attachment applied thereto which can be quickly and readily arranged in its operative position after the hood has been arranged upon the head of the wearer. It will also be apparent that the protector itself is extremely simple in construction and can be manufactured and forehead protector comprises an elongated body having the tabs 4 formed at each end and-said body being secured at its upper longitudinal edge to the head covering to which it is to be applied.

While I have shown and describedthe preferred form of my invention, it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice Without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is 1. As a new article of manufacture, a forehead protector comprising an elongated body constructed of suitable material and adapted to be secured at one of its longitudinal edges to a head covering, tabs formed at each end of said body and adapted to be removably secured to the body of the head covering, as and for the purpose set forth.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a forehead protector including an elongated body of any suitable material and secured at one of its longitudinal edges to a head covering, tabs formed at each end of the body, resilient socket members secured to said tabs and headed catch members secured to the inner side of the head covering and adapted to be engaged by the resilient sockets, as and for the purpose set forth.
