TOILET-CASE.

To all lwhom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. DEMING,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Salem, in the count of Columbiana and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Toilet-Cases, of which the followin is a full, clear, and exact description, re erence being had to the accompanying drawings.

The object of this invention is to provide a very neat and compact toilet case, suitable for travelers and others, and adapted to contain brushes, combs, soap, shaving materials, etc. la My toilet case, which is hereinafter more fully described, may have a tubular, leather envelop or casing with a suitable cover, and

within such casing a removable holder designed to properly position and retain theY various articles.

The particular features of my invention will be more readily understood from a descri tion of a preferred embodiment thereof s own in the drawings thereof.

In the drawings, Figures 1 and 2 are 1ongitudinal sections through my toilet case on diametric planes at right angles to each other; 3 is a perspective view of the case stan ing open with some of the artic-les in place and some omitted; Figs. 4 and 5 are horizontal sections through the upper portion and intermediate portion of the case respectively; Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the cover holder and its supporting member.

As shown in the drawings, 10 re resents the envelop or casing, which preferably consists of a tube of leather, elli tical in cross section and having a suitabe bottom 11. The bottom may be stitched, or otherwise li0 secured, to the Wall of the casing.

12 represents a metal cup designed to have an easy sliding fit within the envelop 10 and provi ed with an outwardly projecting annular flange 13 adapted to rest on the upper edge of the envelo This cup has a bottom 14 and is divided by suitable partitions, according to the articles it is to contain.

Secured to the under side of the cup 12 are suitable holders for various articles, which willy be hereinafter described, these articles being readily accessible by lifting the cu and the holders on its under side from t e envelop.

rear edge with a boss 16, which is adapted to seat in a notch in the envelop, thus insuring the proper position of these Vparts with reference to each other. Secured to the boss is a flexible strap 13, the upper end of which is secured to the cap 20. This cap is shown as provided with an annular flange 21, which is adapted to surround the upper portion 15 of the Acup and rest on the VViange 13 thereof. To hold the cap in place I provide it with a strap 23, which suit-ably locks with the casing 10. As shown, the lock is provided with a glove fastener 24 on the strap and casing. The cap, together with the strap which hinges it and the strap which locks it are preferably of leather, suitably stitched, or otherwise secured, though other material may be employed.

Referring now to the particular disposition of the articles between they cup and holders carried thereby, it will be seen that the

30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 within the cup proper provide six compartments. The central compartment is four-sided; it is adapted to contain a bottle for some suitable lotion. On opposite sides of this bottle are round compartments, one of which may contain a shaving soap case or stick 42 and another of which may contain a shaving brush 43. To provide for a brush of a greater len th than the depth of the cup itself I pre -ei' to make a cent-ral opening 36 through the bottom 14 of the cup at this coiiiaiirtnient. One of the spaces bounded by tie front wall of the cup and the partition 31 and the artition 34 is designed for a tooth-brush, siown at 44. rl`hc handle of this brush projects through an opening 37 in the bottom of the cup. The other compartment bounded by the front wall of the cup and the partitions 34 and 3l is designed for carrying the razor 45, and in this compartment the bottom is preferably omitted altogether, as indicated at 38.

In the rear portion of the cup is a double convex .spacel provided by the cup wall 12 and the partition 30. In this space I have provided a suitable removable leather receptacle 4l which may conveniently be used to contain collar buttons, etc. This receptacle is shown as provided with a cover 49, terminating in a suitable ear, enablin T the receptacle to Ybe conveniently remove Suitable depressions, designated 39, are made in the top edges of the cup walland partitions to enable ones fingers to conveniently grasp the article in eac-h compartment.

Secured tfnthe under side -of thecup is an approximately semi-cylindrical case 50 made preferably of leather. This case has a vertical transverse wall l .ndjacent to the short diameter of the complete device. Connected withthis wall is a flexible, approximately der si semi-cylindrical leather Hap 52, which is adapted, when in place, to substantially aline with the wall of the cup. This fiap, near its free edge, overlaps a portion 53 of this leather case 50, this portion 53 being braced by a portion 54, which extends diag' onally backwardly and is secured to the transverse part 51. 55 is the'botton'l oft-his small case, and-56 the top, which is riveted, or otherwise secured, to the bottom 14 ofthe cup. It will be seen from the construction so far described that the simple removal of the cup from the se at once renders accessible the entire contents of the case, while, for access to the shaving articles alone it is not even necessary to remove the cup.
