CONTENTS-HOLDER FOR MAILING-TUBES.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ABRAHAM PIKoos, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Contents- Holders for Mailing- Tubes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to contents holders for mailing tubes and the object of the invention is to provide a simple, cheaply constructed and eflicient device which may be readily attached to the ordinary mailing tube in order that the contents thereof may be securely held against accidental displacement.

Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application and in which Figure l is an elevation of the clip. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through a mailing tube showing the clip applied thereto. F ig.-3 is a transverse section taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is an elevation of a modified form.

In the embodiment of the invention as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 8, a clip 1 is shown constructed of a single strand of spring wire into substantially the shape of the letter W or inverted into the shape of the letter M. The outer legs of the clip are indicated at 2 and are bent back upon themselves to form a clamp-ing arm or finger 3 with a spring loop 4: at the bend. The terminal of the leg or arm 3 is inwardly bent and preferably sharpened so as to produce a penetrating prong 5 for a purpose to be hereinafter described. Between the legs 2 the strand is bent to substantially V-form as Specification of Letters Patent.

shown at 6, in order that the legs may be adjusted apart or toward each other for the accommodation of difierent sized tubes, as will be understood.

The modification illustrated in Fig. A shows a similar device, but with the penetrating prongs 5 omitted, relying entirely upon the inherent resiliency between the separate portions of the legs 2 to hold the clip upon the sides of the tube 7.

The device is applied as shown in Fig. 2 with the separate portions of the legs 2 straddling the walls of the tube and the intermediate V portion lying against the inner wall as shown in Fig. 3. In this position the penetrating prongs are forced into the outer Walls of the tube thus securing the clip against accidental movement.

1. The contents holder for mailing tubes comprising a single strand of wire bent into W-form with the outside legs thereof bent back upon themselves to straddle and clamp the walls of the tube.

2. A contents holder for mailing tubes which comprises a single strand of wire bent into W-form, the outside legs thereof being bent back upon themselves to lie in parallel relation and to straddle and clamp the walls of said tube and penetrating points formed on the ends of said bent back portions and adapted to enter the outer walls of the tube the intermediate portion of the strand between the legs adapted to bind against the inner wall of the tube.
