FRANK SLACINSKI, DECEASED, LATE 0F PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, BY FLOR,- ENTINA SLACINSKI, ADMINISTRATRIX, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINED CURTAIN-POLE AND SHADE-ROLLER SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 18,1913.
Application filed August 19, 1912. Serial No. 715,930.
To all 207mm 2'2. may concern:
Be it known that I, FLORENTINA Sna- CINSKI, a citizen of the United States, resident of Pittsburgh, in the county of Alle gheny and State of Pennsylvania, am the administratrix of the estate of F RANK SLA- CINSKI, deceased, late a citizen of the United States, who resided at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, and that the said FRANK SLACINSKI did invent a new and useful Combined Curtain-Pole and Shade-Roller Support, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined curtain pole and curtain shade roller support, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a fixture of the above type that can be easily and quickly clamped upon a window, door or alcove frame for supporting a curtain pole and a curtain shade roller, both of which are firmly held and prevented from becoming accidentally displaced relatively to the frame.
A further object of this invention is to accomplish the above results by a metallic fixture that is simple in construction, durable, inexpensive to manufacture, susceptible to any desired finish and highly efficient for the purposes for which it is intended.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construc tion combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a front elevation of the support, Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the support.
Further describing my invention in detail with reference to the drawing wherein like numerals denote corresponding parts throughout :1 denotes a bracket provided with a longitudinal slot 2 to receive an adjustable arm 3 that has the inner end thereof provided with a screw eye 1 and the outer end thereof with a hook 5. The screw eye 1 permits of the inner end of the arm 3 being adjusted and locked relatively to the bracket, and the hook 5 is adapted to support the end of the curtain pole. The bracket 1 is made of a single piece of material with one end thereof angularly disposed to form a brace 6 and the opposite end thereof bent upwardly to provide an upright 7. Pivotally connected to the upright 7, as at 8 are a series of links 9, 10 and 11 all of which are pivotally connected, as at 12. The link 9 has a side extension 13 at right angles thereto and this extension is apertured or notched, as at 1% to receive one of the pintles of a curtain shade roller. The link 11 is pivot-ally connected, as at 15 to a hook-shaped clamping member 16 and this member is adapted to engage in or behind the upper edge of a window frame or other support. Pivotally connected to the upright 7, as at 17 are a se ries of links 18, 19 and 20, the link 18 having a pivoted clamping member 21, similar to the member 16. The link 20 is pivotally connected, as at 22 to a ratchet wheel 23, the pivot of said link being eccentric. Eccentrically connected to the wheel 23, opposite the link 20 are a series of pivotally connected links 24, 25 and 26, the latter having a pivoted clamping member 27 similar to the member 21 and adapted to cooperate therewith in gripping the sides of a frame or other support. The pivotal connection bet-ween the member 27 and the link 26 also supports a pivoted gravity locking pawl 28 that engages with the ratchet wheel 23 and holds said wheel in adjusted position. The ratchet wheel 23 has a concentric shank or shaft 29 that is rectangular whereby a wrench or key can be mounted upon the same to facilitate adjusting the ratchet wheel. It is through the medium of this wheel and the series of pivoted lin ts attached thereto that the members 27 and 21 can be clamped in engagement with the edge of a window frame.
The fixture in its entirety can be stamped from light and durable sheet metal and finished to harmonize with the finish of the window frame or support in connection with which it is used.
VVhat- I claim is 1. A combined curtain pole and shade roller support comprising a bracket, a curtain pole supporting arm adjustably connected thereto, a series of links pivotally supported by said bracket, an extension forming part of one of said links, clamping members pivotally connected to some of said links, a ratchet wheel eccentrically connected to one of said links, pivoted links eccentrically connected to said ratchet wheel,
a clamping member carried by one of saidlinks, and a pivoted gravity pawl carried by the lastmentioned link and engaging said ratchet Wheel.
2. A combined curtain pole and shade roller support comprising a bracket, a curtain pole supporting arm adjustably connected thereto, a series of links pivotally supported by said bracket, an extension forming part of one of said links, clamping members pivotally connected to some of said links, a ratchet wheel eccentrically connected to one of said links, pivoted links eccentrically connected to said ratchet Wheel, a clamping member carried by one of said Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D.
