COMBINATION SHADE AND CURTAIN BRACKET.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that-I, WILLIAM H. BANTLY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Johnstown, in the county of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combination Shade and Curtain Bracket; and I do declare the followin to be a full, clear, and exact description oi the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. 7

This invention relates to. combined shade and curtain supports and has for its object the revision of means which will enable the evice to be attached to theframework of the window without using attaching screws or nailsI Heretofore in a great number of instances, the brackets have been screwed or nailed to, the framework and when removed left a disfiguring scar. Again 'these' devices would not always conveniently attach and consequently would not operate at all on certain styles of frames where the beading interferedwith their proper attachment.

It is the object of my invention to obviate these diificulties and to provide a device of this character which may be easily attached and detached and which is adjustable for all sized frames and for a plurality of different sized curtainpoles'and shade rollers.

"With the foregoing and other objects in view,'the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring more especially to the drawings, 1' and 2 represent the adjustable attaching members, each being provided with a right angular extension or flange 3 having its inner end' turned arallel with the body of the attachment an with its edge serrated 'or notched to produce engagement teeth 4. These members are slotted at 5 to receive a clam ing bolt 6 which is operated by a thum screw 7.

The formation .of the bodies of the members 1 and 2 may be seen from the sectional view of Fig. 3 wherein it is shown that the central part of the body is raised so as to prevent the retaining washer 8 from engaging the wood work and thus scarring the same.

Secured to the members 1 and 2 is a curtain pole and shade roller supporting arm 9 which is provided with the angular extension 10 having a slot 11 to receive the clamping bolt 6 and be adjustable thereon,

in the manner in which the members 1 and 2 are adjustable one u on the other.

.The body portion ot the bracket 9 is provided with a square or oblong slot 12 and a round hole 13 in which to receive either the square ratchet end of the roller or the round pintle end thereof. Thisconstruc tion' enables the bracket to be reversed so that any'length shade roller or curtain pole may be used to advantage. As thebracket is made out of heavy sheet metal and its transverse plane is vertical, it is necessar to form a twist or bend 14 in its len to provide for the pole socket 15 which is orizontal, the upperend having as usual the set screw 16 to engage the pole and hold it in position therein..

Both sets of members land 2 have projecting brackets or supporting arms 9 for each side of the frame and both are identical with the one ust described so that the entire device is interchangeable and adjustable.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
