The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same Beit known that I, EDWARD J. ROBINSON, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful. Improvement in Window-Shade Holder; and I doA hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip;

tion thereof', which will enable others skilled in-the ait. to make and use the same, reference4 being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this Figure 1 is a side view of my improved showing it as attached tela shade.

My invention has for its object Vto furnish an im-Y proved holder for that class of window-shades that rolls up from the bottom which shall be simple in constructionand convenient and effective` in use, holding the shade securely in any position into which it lnay be.

A is the body of .the holder, which is made somewhat 'in the form of an open ringot such a size as to contain the shade when fully rolled upon the roller.

The rear arm of the holder extends up vertically,l

as shown in figs. 1 and 2, and terminates ina plate, B, to rest against the rear side of the shade.

The other arm, C,- of the holder, after coming almostl to the plate B, is turned back and extends up holder,

parallel with the plate B, to serve as a handle in operating the holder.

D is a lever, pivoted in a slot in the arm C of the holder just at its bend.

The inner end of the lever D terminates in a cross head formed upon it, or has a small plate pivoted to it, to bear against the shade-and press it against the plate B.

I prefer to use the pivoted plate, as its action uponl the shade is easier. i i

The outer end of the lever D is made heavy, so that its weight may be sufeient to hold the shade i clamp'edvbetween the end of the lever D and the plate B. If' desired, the free end of the leverD maybe made light and may be held down by a spring with sufficient force to hold the shade,

Having thus described my invention,

I claim as new, and desire t-o secure by Letters Patent- The shade-holder consisting of the weighted lever D, in combination withthe open ring A and its axfrns or extensions B'and O, operating substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth. Y
