BLIND-STOP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentV No. 297,145, dated April 22, 1884.

To all whom t may concern.:

Beit known that I, THOMAS MASSEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pawtucket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Holder for Swivehlinds, of which the following is a specification.

My said invention relates to an adjustable holder for shutters and swivel-blinds; and it consists of a soft-lined metallic clamp at` tached to the inside-of one of the posts of the blind and clasping the bearing of one of the slats.

The accompanying drawings are hereby made part of this specilication, similar letters of reference thereon indicating corresponding parts.

i is a set-screw,by which the lined clamp is made adjustable to the varying conditions to which the slat is subject.

The inner circles of the sides of the clamp holding the linings h h are made larger on their backs, and the edges of these circles are beveled to theirsmaller fronts. The linings are also molded or cutwith like beveled edges, being broader on the back and narrower on the front, and these are inserted from the back of the clamp-sides d e before the latter are attached to the blind.. This Inode of construction is adopted in order that the linings may not slip out from, nor work loose within, the clamp-sides d e. The said linings may be made of leather or other suitable material. as desired.

My said device may be readily attached to any shutter or swivel-blind, new or old, inside or outside. The manner of its application and use is as follows, viz: The beveled linings h h are placed in the beveled chambers ot' the parts of the clamp d c, which parts are then inserted between the inside edge of the post or stile of the blind A and the end of one of theslats c in such manner that thelined part of the clamp will encircle the truunion or bearing of said slat. Thetwo parts ofthe clamp will be then held together and fastened to the stile or post A by the screws f f. The setscrew t will then be turned down into the opposite half of the clamp, drawing the parts e d together until they clasp the trunnion or bearing of the slat as tightly as desired. If, by swelling or ot-l1er\vise,the shutter be found to be too rigidly held, it can be relieved by loosening the setscrew t'.

In combination with the slats and stiles ot' swivel blinds and shut-ters, a compressionclamp composed ofthe right and left hand parts d e, having central and beveled receptacles for the beveled linings h h, and fastened together and to the stile by the two screwsf f, the said beveled linings h h tit-ted to the slattrunnion, asset forth, and the setscrew t', for the purpose of `adjusting the pressure of the clamp, as desired, all in the manner substantially as shown and described.
