SAMUEL PRYOR, OF UTIOA, NEW YORK.
SHADE-ROLLER BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 675,297, dated May 28, 1901. Application filed September 12,1900- Serial No. 29,833. (No model.)
T0 on whom it may concern:
Be it known that LSAMUEL PRYOR,0f Utica, in the county of Oneida and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-RollerBraokets and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification,
The object of my invention is to provide a shade-roller bracket which is adjustable to accommodate varying lengths of shade-rollers and is simple in construction and efficient in its operation.
In the drawings, Figure 1 shows a perspective view of my adjustable bracket, including dotted positions showing the movements which the parts are capable of making. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the device. Fig. 3 shows a perspective view from the rear or inner side of one of the parts of the base of the bracket. Fig. 4 shows a plate or the other part of the base of the bracket.
Referring to the reference-figures in a more particular description, 1 indicates the main base or body piece of the bracket, which is provided with rearwardly-projecting points 1 l adapted to be driven into the casing or surface to which the bracket is attached.
2 is the back plate, substantially of the same form or outline as the front plate. (Shown in Fig. 3.)
Between the plates 1 and 3 are received the lower ends of the swinging arms4. and 5, and the same are secured in position by rivets 6 and7passing through the plates 1 and 2 and the ends of the arm. To the upper end of the arms 4. and 5 is pivotally secured by rivets 8 and 9 the head or roller-holder 10, which is provided with an angular projecting portion 10, having an opening 11, adapted to receive the journal or bearing of the shaderoller.
The plates 1 and 2 are provided with a central opening, as shown, adapted to receive a screw 12, by means of which the bracket is secured to the casing or other surface, and
the plate 1, arou nd the opening which receives the screw, is provided with slits, which form spring points or portions, as 13, on which the head of the screw 12 is adapted to engage, and when screwed down firmly forms an elastic or spring pressure on the lower ends of the swinging arms 4 and 5, whereby the same are held from their swinging movement, except when a considerable force is applied or the screw 12 is somewhat loosened.
WVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The combination in a shade roller bracket, of a base adapted to be secured to the wall or casing, a pair of parallel swinging arms pivoted to the base, a head or shadeholder having a bearing for the shade-roller mounted on and pivoted to the outer ends of the swinging arms, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination in a shade-bracket of the inner and outer plates constituting the base, the parallel swinging arms received between said plates and pivoted at their lower ends therein, the head or holder having a bearing for the shade-roller and mounted on and pivoted to the outer ends of said swinging arms, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination in a shade-bracket of the base-plate 1 having the points 1, the back plate 2, the swinging arms 4 and 5 at their lower ends received between the plates 1 and 2 and pivoted therein, the head or rollerholder mounted on the swinging end of said arms, and pivoted to each, substantially as set forth.
4.. The combination in a shade-bracket of the base-plate 1 having the spring-point portions 13, the back plate 2, the swinging arms 4 and 5 received at their lower ends between the plates 1 and 2 and pivoted thereto, and the head or roller-holder mounted on the swinging ends of said arms and pivoted to each, substantially as set forth.
In witness whereof I have affixed my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 10th day of September, 1900.
SAMUEL PRYOR.
