HENRY E. BIG-GINS, 0F WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT.
TRAVELERS SI-.IAVING-IVIUG.
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY E. Brooms, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Travelers Shaving-Mugs; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference markedthereon, to be a full, clear, and exact `description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure 1 a view partly in side elevation and partly in vertical section of one form which my improved travelers shaving mug may assume, the cover being shown in its open position by broken lines. Fig. 2 a view thereof in front elevation with the cover raised. Fig. 3 a Elan vieW of the mug with the cover removed. Fig. 4 a detached perspective view of the tapering container.
My invention relates to an improvement in travelers shaving mugs, the object being to adapt a shaving mug to receive and contain a razor, soap-box and brush, so that an individual shaving mug may be combined with the advantages of the shaving case ordinarily carried by the traveler for the reception of his shaving appliances.
With these ends in view, my invention consists in a shaving mug having certain details of construction and combination of parts as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in claim.
In carrying out my invention as herein shown, I employ a metal shaving mug :2 having a hinged cover 3, a handle 4, a base 5 and a lip 6, the cover being provided upon its inner face with a circular shaving mirror 7. Within this cup I locate a removable sheet-metal container consisting of a deep tapering sleeve 8 the taper of which conforms to the taper of the inside of the mug, this sleeve being open at its top and bottom and provided upon its inner face with a sheet-metal socket 9 for the reception of a safety razor 10, with a wire clip 11 for the reception of a shaving-brush 12, and with a collar 13 for the reception of a small cy- Specication of Letters Patent.

lindrical soap-box 14 containing shaving soap. It will be understood that the razor 10, brush 12, and shaving-soap box 14 may be of any standard form, size and construction. Just within the upper edge of the container 8, I locate three finger-buttons 1'5 arranged at equal distance from each other between the socket 9, oli) 1l and collar 13, these finger-buttons 15 being provided to permit the container to be readily lifted out of the mug as Well as gent-ly let down into the same.
In using my improved device, any one of the finger-buttons 15 is engaged by the forefinger and the container 8 lifted bodily out of the mug and set down upon its lower end as upon a base. The razor, shaving brush and soap box may now be removed from the container, and preparation for shaving made, the mug, which is now entirely free, being used for the lather, and the mirror being used for the shaving operation. lAfter shaving, the mug is rinsed out and the razor, brush and soap-box restored to the container, after which the same is let down into the mug and the cover closed. The mug now forms a compact, convenient and safe package or case for the shaving appliances.
As shown the mug 2 is made of sheet metal, but the container 8 permits a glass or porcelain mug to be used if desired.
By making the tapered sleeve 8 conform in its taper to the taper of the interior of the mug 2, the sleeve is firmly held against rattling, while by making the said sleeve open at the bottom, the brush 12 and box 14 will drain directly into the bottom of the mug. Moreover, by making the sleeve open at the bottom, no suction is created to interfere with its removal from the mug.
I claim In a traveler-s shaving mug, the combination with a tapered mug, of a hinged cover therefor, and a tapering removable sheet-metal sleeve corresponding in taper to the taper of the said mug, open at its top and bottom, provided upon its upper edge Ywith one or more inwardly projecting finger-buttons by means of which it may be lifted out of the mug and restored thereto,
und furnished with a razor-holder, with a In testimony whereof, I have signed this brush-holder Lund with a soap-box holder, all specification in the presence of two subextending inward from its inner face, scribing witnesses. whereby a razor, a, shaving-brush and a HENRY E. BIGGINS.
