UNITED: STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH LUPOWITZ AND BENJIMAN MACKILBANK, 0F PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYL- VANIA.
BARBERS ASIEPTIC SHAVING-CUP.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, JOSEPH LUrowrrz and BENJIMAN MAGKILBANK, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have jointly invented a certain new and useful Improved Barbers Aseptic Shaving-Cup, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bar loers supplies and has for its principal object to provide a novel form of barbers aseptic shaving cup insuring to the barbers customer, the use of an aseptic shaving cup, aseptic brush and aseptic soap.
A further object of the present invention resides in the providing of a barbers sanitary shaving cup of thin, fragile material requiring exterior support and having sealed therein a brush-body and soap said cup being adapted to be removably held within a suitable holder which cup and its sealed contents are designed for a single use.
Other and further objects of the invention reside in the providing of general details of construction and arrangement of parts.
The invention consists of the improvements hereinafter described and finally claimed.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention, will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof and in which:
Figure 1, is a view in elevation of the sanitary shaving cup embodying the invention. Fig. 2, is a vertical central section thereof, and Fig. 3, is a vertical central sectional view of the shaving cup of the invention, with the seal removed, the brushbody fitted to a handle and the cup fitted to place within a holder ready for use.
Referring to the drawings, 10 designates what may be termed an inner receptacle or shaving cup adapted to contain an aseptic brush-body 11 and aseptic soap 12. This cup 10, is made of cheap thin fragile material as paper and requiring exterior support. A cup of this kind will collapse after a single application of water thereto and will be unfit for a second use. The cup 10, is provided adjacent its edge with an integral ex- Specifieation of Letters Patent.

ternal flanged portion 14, which flanged portion is internally grooved as at 13. In practice, the flanged and grooved portions of the cup are formed by crimping the cup adjacent its upper edge in its manufacture. The crimping of the cup as described has a two-fold purpose: First, it provides a seat to receive a seal in the form of a thin fragile flat paper cap 15, and second, it provides means whereby the cup 10, may be partially supported and steadied when inserted within an outer rigid and permanent holder 16, calculated to be retained by the barber. If desired, when the cap 15, is fitted to place a thin coating of paraflin or similar substance may be applied thercovcr or around the innor rim of the cup to exclude dust, dirt and the like.
In practice, the brush-body 11, is made of very cheap material and suflicient soap is furnished for a single use, so that after such single use, the cup 10, and brush-body 11, are discarded or destroyed by the barber.
In the use of the above described shaving cup, the barber receives the cups 10, and their sealed contents and when occasion s0 demands, inserts a cup 10, within the holder 16, so that preferably the bottom of the cup 10, rests upon the bottom of the holder and the flanged portion 14, of the cup 10, rests upon the holder rim as shown in Fig. 3. This holder is permanently retained by the barber and is made from any preferred material of a rigid nature and is usually provided with a handle. The barber then removes the paper cap 15, fits to the shank 17, of the brush-body 11, a handle 18, which handle is also retained permanently by the barber. For all practical purposes, the novel form of shaving outfit thus provided, is the same as an ordinary shaving outfit with the added feature that every customer is insured of a sanitary cup, brush and soap.
What we claim is In a barbers sanitary shaving cup, the combination with an outer, rigid, permanent holder of an inner brush-body and soap holding receptacle made of thin, fragile material requiring exterior support said receptacle having adjacent its edge an external flanged portion internally grooved, said receptacle being adapted to fit within the holder and rest upon the bottom thereof and In testimony whereof, We have hereunto have its flanged portion rest upon the holder ign d our names.
