the other so as to be, as elected, worn outerniost, together with means located at the waist line for fastening the inwardly disposed skirt and waist portion relatively to the side of the garment body and also means for the securing of the edge portion of the externally disposed skirt and waist portion to the opposite side of the garmentbody.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive garment of the character described with provisions for the fastening of the reversiltile front forming portions thereof for a convenient and easily manipulated garment.
The invention is described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and is delined in the claims.
In the drawings:Figure l is a front view of thehouse dress as worn. Figs. 2 and 3 are horizontal sectional views taken at the waist line, that is as indicated by line 'Q- Z, Fig. 1, these views being similar in cha 'acter but showing reversed relations of the front forming portions of the garment and reversed arrangements of the fastening means therefor.
In the drawings, A represents the body of a house dress, the front forming portions 1% and B comprising therein waist and skirt portions n, and 11?, one continuous with the. other and of similar form so that one will overlap the othi-rand each extend from the side of the body across the front and around to the opposite side. Each front forming portion has a buttonl'iole Z therein near iti free edge at the waist line, and the arment. has through the body portion thereiif at the waist line, and at opposite sides of such body portion slitieo openings 11d thereth rougl'l.

f f represent comparatively short tabs secured by stitching to thegarment body adjacent said slittedopenings (Z d, each adapted to be positioned either outsideof the garment b "ly or :by insertion through the adjacent slltted opening to a posiion inside of such body, Each tab toward or near its free end is provided with a button holee.
Now 011 reference to Fig. 2 itwill be seen that the garment front B is la ped at oss and overlies the kothergarment front ining portion 13 the. tab f at the left being externally positioned andthe buttonhole in the free left hand edge of the overlapped front B matches with the buttonl-iole in the tab, and. .a fastening stud f] is matched through the buttonhole Z) of the dress front and thebottonhole c in the tab for detachably securing the jointed portions together. And in the same View, Fig. 2, perceived that the tab f at the right hand of the garment is inserted through-aslitted it will be opening cl and is internally disposed andwith the buttonhole 0 thereof matches the buttonhole b at the free edge of the. garment front. B and through these coinciding buttonholes a second stud g is engaged so that the edge portions of the underlying and the overlapped dress fronts are secured or stayed at oppositely located positions about where the front merges into the back. Now on reference to the other view, Fig. 3, a reversal of the arrangemcnt is shown, the dress front B being" innermost and the one B being outermost,, the left hand tab f being internally located, while the right hand tab is drawn to the outside, and the connections are perfected by the detachable studs in similar manner to that represented in Fig. 2.
D represents a band to form a portion of a belt which extends around the rear portion of the garment, the same here being represented as formed in two parts 72 and IF, one overlapping the other at the back and adapted to have a take-up capabilit and to be secured by glove snap fastenings '7, here represented, although not necessarily so, as it is the forward end portions of these belt bands 71., h which constitute the aforementioned tabs f lrossinfij on the face of each of the dress front forming portions 1) and B are. further belt forming hands or sections. j and j the same being secured at their opposite ends by the stitchings Z; against detachment. These belt bandsy' and jnear their ends at the free edges of the dress fronts have buttonholes therein which coincide with the buttonholes b so that the studs, when the parts are secured, may he engaged therethrough although, if desired, the studs need not be passed through the ends of these belt forming bands, but only thrmigli the buttonholes b, and may be concealed by the belt bands.
I claim:

A reversible house dress the body of which at the front is made with waist and skirt portions, one continuous with the other, and either skirt and waist portion being adapted to overlap the other, and said gar-- ment at the waist line at opposite sides thereof having slitted openings therethrougln'and a short tab secured to the garnient adjacent each slitted opening, and adapted to be positioned either outside of the garment body, or by insertion through the slitted opening inside of such body, fasteningi, means, cooperative between the said tabs and the edge portions of the reversible front portions for securing the overlapping front portion to an externally positioned tab, and for securing the inwardly disposed front portion to the other, and internally. positioned tab.
2. A reversible house dress the .body of which at the front is made with waist and skirt portions, one continuous with the other and adapted for overlapping relations and said garment at the waist line, at opposite sides of the body portion, having slitted openings therethrough, a belt band at the rear of the garment having opposite portions thereof stitched to the garment body adjacent the said slitted openings and having comparatively short tabs extending beyond said stitched portions and adapted to be positioned either outside of the garmentbody or by insertion through the slitted openings inside of such body, said tabs and the reversible t'ront forming portions near their free edges having buttonholes therein, belt forming bands stitched to the garment body adjacent but forward of said slitted' openings and having buttonholes therein. to
match with those of the reversible garment M. O. P. BALDWIN. Witnesses:
