This invention relates to snap buttons for for the purpose of sewing the members to articles of'dress, gloves, bags, purses and the material. Additional perforations are the like and has for object improvements therein, whereby an exceptionally simple and inexpensive snap button is realized having the advantage of holding the pieces to be attached directly one on top of the other with the button invisible.
The invention consists in an improved snap button in which one member is a plate having an upwardly dished edge tapering to nothing at the rear side ofthe plate, and the other member, engaging with the first by the usual -knob device, is covered by the said first member, the d-ished edge of which fits y closely around the peri hery of the second member and provides a secure hold. o The holes by means of which the buttons proximity to the upper edge thereof.
In use, one member a, is attached to one part 7i of, say, an article of dress, by means of thread z' passing through the holes d, the cloth hwhich is folded over in front, lying over the edge c and covering therefore the member a of the button. The other member e is attached to the other similarly folded part 7c of the article of dress. When the button isbeing fastened the member a, fits closely over the member c, the fastened snap button being invisible.
What I claim is z- A snap button comprising a fiat base having a stud and an upturned rim which is perforated at its its upper edge, said base and rim-edge gradually approaching each other from said front portion toward the rear of the base and the rear edge of the base lying in the same plane as the'f edge of the'upturned rim, the base being adapted to be overlaid by one section of the garment, while part o said section is drawn against the outerside of the uptiirned perforated rim portion when sewn thereto, having a iiat upper face adapted to be bodily received by the base within its rim to ene gage the stud, said socketed member being be fastened are situated close to the rim of the dished edge of the button, so that the material lies closely around the dished edge.
Tith this improved arrangement on engagement of the two members the pieces to be attached lie directly one on top -of the other and the button is invisible, while the dished edge on the front of the one button member resi sts any pull exerted on the other member, so' that a securer hold is -obtained and springing loose of the button prevented.
