LAMP-CHIMNEY HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 19, 1912.
Application filed February 1, 1911. Serial No. 606,049.
springs and handling loops therein and having its ends hooked, bent to fit outside and over the top of a lamp chimney, whereby the chimney is securely held in position on the lamp burner.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple, efficient and inexpensive device to hold lamp chimneys in position and prevent all danger of their falling off under any circumstances. With this and other objects in view reference is had to the drawings in which like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
Figure 1. is a perspective view of the top portion of a lamp fitted with my chimney holder. Fig. 2 is a similar perspective view of my chimney holder detached from a lamp. Fig. 3. is a view of the holder detached and having the cross-top portion bent. Fig. 4:. is a view of Fig. 3. in position on a lamp chimney. Fig. 5. shows the holder detached and having the cross-top portion protected or re inforced against extreme heat.
Referring to the drawings. The holder in position on a lamp chimney as shown in Fig. 1, is formed of a single length of wire having therein the coil-springs AA, in each side thereof adjacent to the top, and on each side adjacent to the bottom the handling loops FF.
C-C are the hooked ends of the wire adapted to engage with the lamp-burner rim, whereby the chimney is securely clamped thereon. The springs A-A being extensible, adapt the holder to different sized chimneys. They also exert tension on the burner. The device is put on and taken off by means of the handling loops FF.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that the essential feature of my invention is its simplicity and economy while fulfilling perfectly all the requirements of a holder for lamp chimneys. This is due in a great measure to the fact that it is made from a single length of wire or other suitable material, thus being cheap and easy, above other holders, to manufacture.
\Vhat I claim for my invention is A lamp-chimney holder formed of a single piece of wire bent to fit against the sides and across the top of a lamp-chimney, and having spiral springs and finger loops in the sides thereof, and hooks on the ends thereof to engage with a lamp burner.
DANA DUDLEY.
