. wano and State of Visconsin, have invented a new and Improved Display Device, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description.

My invention relates generally to devices which are adapted for use in displaying articles of furniture and more particularly it involves one especially intended to coperate with the parts of a bed in order that the parts may be held in upright position and convenient for inspection.

A further object of my invention is to provide a simple device which may be readily attached to the head board and foot board of a bed in order to hold these parts together and in upright position so that the construction and design thereof may be fully seen.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding` parts in all the views, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the parts of a bed held in position by Amy device; Fig. 2 is a verticalv sectional view through portions of the head board and foot board showingl the device in operative position; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified construct-ion.

The head board and the foot board of a bed are generally provided with blocks or fastening devices in order to permit the side members to engage these parts so that the bed may be held in position; my device is adapted to coperate with these fastening blocks and preferably consists of the following construction. A body portion 2O of any suitable form and design is provided on opposite sides thereof with projecting portions, the portions 21 and 22 being extended' downwardly when the device is held in one position and the portions 23, 24, on the opposite side projecting upwardly when the device is held in this same position.

It is to be noted that the outer ends of each of the portions 21, 22, 23, 24, are suitably spaced or are remote from the body portion 20 whereby a hooked construction is afforded. The width of the body portion 20 is such that the head board and foot board may be brought closely together in Specification of Letters Patent.

order to save room, the portions 21, 22, engaging in the openings 26 in the plate 27 while the portions 23, 24, engage in the openings 25 in the plate 28, there being a suitable recess 29, 30, beneath each of these plates.

In the use of my device, which is preferably made of integral construction, the portions- 21, 22 are slipped into the openings 26 in the head board and the foot board is then brought closely adjacent and the portions 23, 24 are brought into engagement with the openings 25 therein, such positioning of the parts holding the head board and foot board closely together and in upright position by reason of the oppositely extending hooked formation of the portions 21, 22, 2s, Q4.

In some cases, due to the different makes and sizes of beds, the device shown in Fig. 2 may not be available and in order to provide a device which may be universally used, a modified form thereof is illustrated in Fig. 3. In thiscase the body portion 25 is provided with a longitudinally extending slot 21, the lower end of the body portion having on opposite sides thereof the offset arms 22, 24, the outer end portions of which are remote from the body portion and extend in opposite directions. The hook-shaped member 32 is provided at one end thereof with a pin 33 engaging within the slot 31 whereby the part 32 may be moved along the body portion 20; the other end of this hookshaped member is provided on opposite sides thereof with headed lugs 34, 35, which are adapted to engage within the openings in the top of the plates 26, 23, shown in Fig. 2, the hooked end 3G forming a suitable handle whereby the lugs 34, 35, may be suitably positioned. In the use of this modified device the offset arm 22 is positioned inthe lower opening 26 in the head board, the hook-shaped member 32 being brought upwardly or downwardly in order to allow the headed lug 35 to be positioned in the upper opening 26; the foot board is then brought adjacent the head board and the offset arm 24 is positioned in the lower opening 25 in the foot board when the headed lug 34 may be .easily engaged in the upper opening in this board. The parts are disconnected by lifting the member 32 by means of the end 36 until the headed lugs 34, 35, slip out of the openings when the parts may be easily separated.

From what has been said it will be seen that I have provided a display device which is especially adapted for displaying beds in salesrooms but which may also be adapted for use with other pieces of furniture. The various parts of the bed are positioned with respect to each other and are also suitably positioned on the floor so that the head board and the foot board may be moved together and to any desirable posit-ion when it is desired to inspect the same.

Various modifications may be made in the conformation and the size of the parts in order to adapt the device to diiferent beds without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent l. A display device comprising' a body portion having oii'set parts at opposite sides thereof for engagement in the openings in the plates of the head board and foot board of a bed whereby these two parts may be closely positioned with respect to cach other and maintained in upright posit-ion.

A display device comprising a body portion having offset members on opposite sides thereof, the said members on one side projecting in one direction and those on the opposite side extending in an opposite direction, the said projecting parts being adapted for engagement in the openings in the plates carried by the head board and foot board of a bed whereby these parts may be closely positioned with respect t'o each other and held in upright position.

A display device comprising la body portion having offset members onA opposite sides thereof, one of the said members on one side projecting in one direction and one of t-he said members on the other side eX- tending in an opposite direction, together with a movable member having projecting portions 0n opposite sides thereof adjustably carried by the said body member.

A display device comprising a body portion having a longitudinally extending slot therein, offset parts at opposite sides thereof and adjacent the lower portion for enga-ging in the openings in the plates of the head' board and foot board of a bed, together with a hook-shaped member movable within the slot, the said hook-shaped member being provided with oppositely eX- tending parts for engagement withother openings in the said plates whereby the head board and foot board may be closely positioned with respect to each other.
