ZNVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH G. KING, OF HENDERSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA.
DOOR-HANGER.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Gr. KING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hendersonville, in the county of Henderson and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to hangers for sliding doors, and has for one of its objects the provision of an improved construction of track and wheeled truck.
Another object of my invention is the provision of means to prevent the trackcasing from lateral movement should its fastening means become loosened.
My invention will be described in detail hereinafter and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of a fragment of a sliding door, showing my improved hanger in operative position, the casing being shown partly broken away to show the truck; Fig. 2, an end view of the hanger-casing, truck, and door fragment, the supporting member and connections, shown in Fig. 1, being omitted; Fig. 8, a bottom plan view of the truck; and Fig. 4, a detail of the flange rod; and Fig. 5, a top plan fragmental view of the attachment for the top of the door.
In the drawings similar reference characters will be used to designate corresponding parts in the several views.
A indicates a sliding door of any desired construction. The hanger for door A comprises a track-casing 1, consisting of a substantially rectangular structure, having a slot 2 in its lower portion with upwardly extending flanges 3 on each side of the slot that form the tracks on which are mounted the wheels 4:, journaled in truck-frame 5, said wheels having flanges 6 on their two sides that engage the sides of flanges or tracks 3 to hold the truck in position on the track. 7 indicates strips secured longitudinally of the casing l in its upper corner that engage top of truck-frame 5 to prevent it from upward movement, the truck-frame be- Speoification of Letters Patent.

ing substantially the width of the casing 1, so that there can be no lateral displacement of the truck. By this construction it will be evident that the truck-frame and wheels 4 cannot work up or sidewise in the casing, and all danger of the truck jumping the track is avoided.
Secured to door A is a casing comprising base plate 8, side pieces 9, with inwardlyextending flanges 10, and an end plate 11. The top edges'of side pieces 9 are inclined and the flanges 10 spaced apart to form a slot 12 to receive hanger-rod 18, that has laterally-extending arms 14: secured to the sides of truck-frame 5 and its lower end secured to a block 15, formed with a threaded bore 16. 17 indicates a screw-shaft rotatably mounted in end plate 11 and engaging threaded bore 16. This construction of casing secured to the door with the inclined upper edges of side pieces 9, block 15, and screw-shaft 17 engaging a threaded bore 16 in the block admits of accurately adjusting the door A vertically to secure its most efficient operation.
18 indicates bow springs on the upper side of the casing to hold the casing rigid should the bolts 19 securing it in position be loosened.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- In a door-hanger, a track casing having a longitudinal slot in its bottom, a rectangular truck-frame movably mounted in said casing and having carrying wheels journaled thereon and traveling in said casing, and strips secured in said casing and engaging the upper side of said truck-frame for pre venting upward movement thereof, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand v in presence of twosubscribing witnesses.
JOSEPH G. KING.
