To all 'whom it may conce/rn Be it known that I, ANTHONY ABEL, of the city, county, and State ot'New York, have invented a new and usefulImprovement in BarhersvChairs; andI do hereby declare `that the following is a full, clear, and exact.' description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying dra-wing forming part ol' this speeitication.
',lhis invention relates to hai-bers chairs, and consists in certain improvements thereon, which will be speclied hereinafter.

It-will `be seen that by this arrangement the `back ot' the chair will be raised or lowered according as the crank is turned, and that unlike the ordinary rack and pinion this rack and scroll gear will remain stationary in any position wit-hout fastening ot" any kind.
