五 、發明説明(1 ) 發明背景 發明範疇 陽極H月係關於電化學電池用辞陽極,特別係關於防儀 先前技藝說明 鋅㈣合金多年來用於電化學電池作為活性材料,包 :鋅空氣、鋅-銀、鋅錳、鋅錄、鋅由化物及其它電池系 辞由於能量密度相當高以及自㈣藏量豐富,故鋅用 於多種用途為佳。但有關以辞為主之電化學電池之一種相 =題係有關自我放電,通常當電池自我放f時由系統產 風乳:此種效應於多種電池系統通稱為陽極腐姓,對電 桎使用哥命有害,原因在於鋅被耗用於製造無用的氯氣而 非耗用於產生能量。進—步,此種氣體逸出將增加電池内 口 P壓力,結果導致電解液的滲漏。 先前曾經嘗試㈣含汞鋅合金來抑制作為陽極活性 材料之鋅粉可能的腐敍。某些含采鋅可有效維持具有此種 陽極之電池可接受的儲存性質。但由於環保關係,近年來 要求減少陽極辞合金粉末中的汞含量,而有包括非汞齊之 不含汞鋅合金粉末之電池上市。 典型辦法包括攙聽、銘、約、錮、錫及其它材料來 提供防純質以及抑制因鋅粉腐餘造成氣體的產生。如此 此種鋅合金粉末構成不含汞鹼性電池之展望性陽極鋅材 料。但經常各種合金組成分於電池長時間儲存期間仍然導 致放出顯著量的氫氣。 557592 五、發明説明(2 ) 也曾經嘗試其它辦法來改變陽極材料, 聚合物或界面活性劑或田使用某些 飞另外知用電解液對陽極 理,但大部分通常皆獲得類似饮表面處 0又行頰似結果。換言之,雖然 少為可此,但此種腐蝕系統缺乏放電能力。 :此:望提供一種防蝕鋅陽極材料’同時維持適當放 電此力,特別以咼速率放電之放電能力。 發明概述 前文討論及其它先前技藝之問題及缺點可藉由數種 組成物改善或克服,其中鋅材料以抑制劑塗覆。抑制劑化 合物通¥包含一種界面活性劑其具有通式: (請先閲讀背面之注意事項再填寫本頁)

---- (請先閲讀背面之注意事項再填窝本頁) •訂丨 557592 A7 B7 五、發明説明(6 ) 可為交聯聚丙烯酸(PAA)例如卡博普(Carbopol)族交聯聚 丙烯酸(例如卡博普675、卡博普940)得自古利敘(Goodrich) 企業,北卡羅萊那州夏洛特、以及聚丙烯酸或聚甲基丙烯 酸之鉀及鈉鹽;羧甲基纖維素鈉鹽(CMC)例如得自亞利敘 (Aldrich)化學公司,威斯康辛州密爾瓦基;羥丙基甲基纖 維素;聚乙烯醇(PVA);聚(環氧乙烷)(PEO);聚丁基乙烯 醇(PBVA);天然樹膠;聚凝膠(P〇lygel)4P(得自西革瑪亞利 敘公司);接枝澱粉例如華特洛克(Waterlock)A221得自穀物 處理公司愛荷華州馬司卡丁;包含至少一種前述膠凝劑的 組合;等。 又鋅糊包括鋅氧化物通常係用於讓材料產生氣體進 一步減少。鋅氧化物可含括於電解液或含括於鋅或鋅合金 材料。 現在舉非限制性實例說明本發明。 實例 具有抑制劑化合物具體實施例之鋅材料製備如後。 提供鋅合金具如下檢定分析數值: 102 ppm Bi 200 ppm In 99 ppm A1 33 ppm Pb(無法避免的雜質) 2 ppm Fe(無法避免的雜 5 ppm Cu(無法避免的雜質) 1 ppm Cd(無法避免的雜質) 9 (請先閱讀背面之注意事項再填寫本頁) 本紙張尺度適用中國國家標準(CNS) A4規格(210X297公釐) 557592 A7 B7 五、發明説明(7 ) 鋅合金又具有粒徑分布如後: +425微米 0% +250微米 23% + 150微米 37% + 106微米 24% +75微米 15% -75微米 2% 鋅合金與包含聚氧伸乙基(20)山梨聚糖一油酸酯於水 之1 %抑制劑化合物溶液共同滾轉。滾轉後混合物於50°C乾 燥直到全部溶劑皆蒸發去除為止。總計,以鋅合金之重量 為基準,提供約0.01 wt.%抑制劑化合物(不含溶劑)來塗覆 鋅合金。 氣體產生試驗之進行方式係以5克鋅材料攙混抑制劑 化合物含10毫升4 0 %以氧化鋅飽和之氫氧化钟溶液。試驗 證實攙混抑制劑化合物之陽極材料於50°C經一個月後不會 產生氣體。進一步於70°C,氣體產生試驗證實攙混抑制劑 化合物之陽極材料每日放出氣體少於約3至約4微升經歷7 曰。 為了證實以攙混抑制劑化合物之陽極材料形成的電 化學電池之放電能力,採用陽極材料組合電解液材料構成 電池。電解液材料包含約1.8%卡博普675(以電解液材料總 量為基準)於45%氫氧化鉀水溶液。此外,攙混4%氧化鋅於 電解液材料。 (請先閲讀背面之注意事項再填寫本頁) .訂— 参, 本紙張尺度適用中國國家標準(CNS) A4規格(210X297公釐) 10 557592 A7 ~--— _B7___ 五、發明説明(8 ) 用於試驗電池之各個電池(使用鋅陽極材料以及使用 比較性陽極材料)之正電極包含空氣擴散陰極,其含有四甲 氧苯基吼咯紫質鈷(C〇TMpp)催化劑使用鐵氟龍黏著劑支 载於碳上。空氣擴散陰極用於100毫安培/平方厘米放電電 机逸、度最為理想。鎳綿集流器用於與陰極做電接觸,厚2 亳米之銅箔集流器用於陽極。 由既有D-號電池獲得之陽極材料製成比較用電池。電 池包括勁量電池(Energizer)(消費者)、勁量電池(工業用)、 勁置電池鈦e2、耐久電池(Duracell)及雷伐電池(Ray〇vac) 最大量。 使用2毫米厚度陽極糊膏層施用至3厘米X 5厘米陰極 及分隔件(福登博格(Freudenberg)FS2213E非織尼龍分隔件) 組裝兩顆電池。一電池係使用前述陽極糊包含聚氧伸乙基 (20)山梨聚糖一油酸酯作為抑制劑化合物組構而成。同 理,得自既有電池之陽極材料也可用於形成比較用電池。 電池全部皆以1.5安培之恆定電流放電。通常由此處所 述1%極材料製成的電池性能優於由既有電池之陽極材料製 成的電池。第1圖提供各種電池(實例中每種電池進行兩次 試驗)之放電時間。 由第1圖可知’包括抑制劑化合物之本陽極材料之放 電能力比來自既有電池陽極材料之放電能力提升約30%至 高達約45%。可達成此項效果,同時將陽極材料非期望之 反應造成的腐蝕及氣體釋放減至最低。 由鋅材料以及使用該鋅材料之電化學電池也可獲得 本紙張尺度適用中國國家標準(CNS) A4規格(210><297公釐)
