Abstract

To provide a copper alloy for an electronic component having excellent hot workability which particularly has excellent strength and electrical conductivity without deteriorating its bending workability. The high strength and high electrical conductivity copper alloy for an electronic component has a composition comprising, by mass, 1.0 to 2.0% Ni and 0.10 to 0.50% P, and in which the ratio between the Ni content and the P content, Ni/P is 4.0 to 6.5, and also comprising 0.03 to 0.45% Cr, or 0.005 to 0.070% B and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. The copper alloy may further comprise one or more kinds selected from Sn and In by 0.01 to 1.0% in total, and preferably has the tensile strength of ≥ 700 MPa and the electrical conductivity of ≥ 40% IACS, and combines excellent hot workability and strength.
