Abstract
Disclosed is a full automation method for dressing a drill bit, wherein a drill bit to be dressed and inspected is fed from a feeding zone and sequentially picked up by a robot arm to move to a part holder of a turn table to subject to chip-removal operation by a bit blowing mechanism. The bit is moved to a blade length and diameter inspection mechanism by indexing rotation of the turn table and is subject to inspection of blade length and diameter thereof b a first image sensor (CCD1). The bit is then moved by indexing rotation of the turn table to a transfer arm to shift the bit and then held and moved by a bit holding mechanism to a positioning inspection mechanism wherein a second image sensor (CCD2) is used for positioning. The bit holding mechanism inverts the bit and places it amid the first and second grinding wheels and a feed measuring mechanism to proceed with grinding operation by employing a third image sensor (CCD3) to control the amount of feed. The bit is then moved by indexing rotation of the turn table to a blade inspection mechanism, wherein a fourth image sensor (CCD4) is used to inspect the blade of the bit. Pass bits are picked up and moved by a robot arm to an out-feed zone, while non-pass bits are subject to repeated correction procedures until they are qualified with the pass requirements.
