Description

One of the serious disadvantages of spray plating is the large loss of coating material to the atmosphere when spraying.

The proposed method of sputtering metallization with ferromagnetic metals and alloys reduces the loss of metal from sputtering by exciting a magnetic field on the metallized surface areas; in this case, products made of ferromagnetic alloys are used as a magnet core, and when coating non-magnetic metals and non-metallic objects, a strong electromagnet is placed behind the surface to be coated. Particles reaching the screen with an insufficient supply of manpower and therefore earlier lost are held by magnetic forces and fixed in the applied layer.

When metallizing with ferromagnetic powders, it is possible to add nonmagnetic substances (e.g., fluxes, graphite, etc.) to them, while maintaining close mixing, which causes the mixture to be ferromagnetic.
