Description

Existing methods of metal removal during the stripping of parts in air with the help of an electrode connected to an electric current circuit require a large electric capacity and at the same time are not sufficiently productive.

The described method is based on the use of the phenomenon of melting and ejection of metal from the point of contact between the electrode and the machined part, through which a large current flows.

The injected electric power should be sufficient for continuous penetration of the entire cross section of the metal layer to be removed. The metal removal process is conducted by continuously melting it and spraying under the influence of an electric pulse.

The described method reduces power consumption and improves the removal rate of the metal.

The drawing shows an electrical metal removal circuit by the described electric flash method.

A device for carrying out metal removal consists of an electrode / tool and electrode 2 — a workpiece. The tool electrode 1 is depicted as a rotating disk. In principle, metal removal by non-rotating disk electrodes is possible.

The rotation of the electrode / indicated by the arrow A, the direction of the supply of the electrode 2 - arrow B.

Electrode / and electrode 2 are included in the second circuit 5 of the step-down current transformer TO.

Such a device creates a low active and inductive resistance of the working circuit and transformer. It allows one to obtain steady-state short-circuit powers measured by hundreds and thousands of kea and ensuring continuous penetration of the entire cross section of the metal layer to be removed.

The machining of the part consists in the fact that the workpiece is being processed (the electrode 2 is continuously moving along arrow B. As it moves, the removed metal layer under the influence of an electrical impulse is agitated, sprayed and removed from the surface of the part.
