Abstract
The mixture comprises an elastomer component and a mixture of additives, including sulphur and/or sulphur donors and vulcanisation accelerators. The elastomer component comprises one or two polybutadiene rubbers and optionally further rubber, which may be synthetic and/or natural rubber. In order to achieve good grip of the tyre, the mixture has an unusually high content of active silica filler (more than 80% by weight, based on the elastomer content). Thanks to a content of specific sulphur-containing organosilicon compound, the mixture is nevertheless not too viscous for conventional processing and can be sprayed. It may also contain carbon black. In spite of the high filler content and a likewise high content of soft material (from 40 to 100% by weight, based on the elastomer content) of the mixture, the vulcanisate has the requisite rubber-technical properties, such as tensile strength and tear resistance. After vulcanisation, the rubber mixture gives tyre treads with good grip on wet, snow-covered and in particular icy roads.
