Abstract
Compositions suitable for a protective coating on the exposed surface of a puncture sealant layer vulcanized to the inner surface of an inflatable article such as a tyre (see Group XXXIV) comprise butyl rubber, GR-S, nonreinforcing filler, zinc oxide, softener, sulphur, accelerator and boric acid. The compositions are mixed and dissolved in a solvent such as gasoline, benzene, toluene and xylene to give a cement of from 10-70 per cent total solids.ALSO:A composition suitable for a protective coating on the exposed surface of a puncture sealant layer vulcanized to the inner surface of an inflatable article such as a tyre (see Group XXXIV), based on weight of rubber hydrocarbon, comprises- .Natural rubber.....100.00 .Zinc Oxide.......5.00 .Sulphur.......0.5 .Calcium Carbonate.....20.00 .Softener.......5.25 .Boric Acid.......0.5 .Accelerator.......1.5 ....132.75 This composition is mixed and dissolved in a solvent to form a cement of from 10 per cent to 70 per cent solids, as desired. A non-vulcanizable composition may comprise- .Natural rubber.....100.00 .Non-reinforcing filler...25.00 .Softener.......5.00 ....130.00 and the solvents may be gasoline, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylene dichloride, trichlorothylene and the like.
