Abstract

740,343. Pneumatic tyres. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. May 4, 1954 [June 17, 1953], No. 12910/54. Class 144 (2). An inner liner 2 for a pneumatic (tubeless) tyre 1 is formed from a mixture of polychloroprene with at least one rubbery material selected from the group comprising natural rubber, reclaimed rubber, polybutadiene and the elastomeric copolymers of butadiene and styrene (GR-S), in the proportions 20 to 80 per cent polychloroprene and 80 to 20 per cent rubbery material by weight of the mixture. The preferred liner, which is about 0.05 to 0.06 inch in thickness, contains 50 per cent polychloroprene by weight of mixture, the usual fillers and accelerators being added to the mix in blending. Suitable GR-S constituents are those containing up to 25 per cent styrene by weight of mixture.
