Abstract

A vulcanized mixture comprising butyl rubber reclaim and an elastomer consisting of either natural rubber or a butadiene-styrene rubbery copolymer or its reclaim in relative proportions of from 55 to 70 per cent reclaim and 45-30 per cent elastomer is formed into an air-retaining element for a pneumatic rubber tyre. The elastomer may be virgin rubber or reclaim or mixtures thereof. Reinforcing carbon black in amount from 20 to 60 parts per 100 of the rubbers may be added. The usual vulcanization compounding ingredients such as sulphur, accelerators and activators may be present.ALSO:A vulcanized mixture comprising Butyl rubber reclaim and an elastomer consisting of natural rubber or natural rubber reclaim which may be mixed with butadiene-styrene rubbery copolymer or into reclaim in the relative proportions of from 55 to 70 per cent. Butyl reclaim and 45 to 30 per cent. elastomer is formed into an air-retaining element for a pneumatic rubber tyre. Reinforcing carbon black in amount from 26 to 60 parts per 100 of the rubbers may be added. The usual vulcanization compounding ingredients such as sulphur, accelerators and activators may be present.
